Hi I'm 16 years old and I'm going to the doctors to get on the pill, I was wondering what questions will they ask me? And if I wanted to get tested for STD's how will they test me from a blood test or something else? Please I need to know! Thanks
Update: I need answers asap please, =] Thanks

Your doctors questions will really be about safety. Its really not a judgmental thing. Everyone has sex at some point so do feel nervous about asking your doctor.
The last STD test I had was just blood work. They took a ton of blood and ran all the tests. Also the results are told only to you. Parents don't even need to know you brought it up to your doctor.
Now I am 2o years old and so I didn't need an exam or anything, but questions I did get. Basically, if you want the pill they will ask you about your health and so on. They will ask if you have acne, anemia, heart murmur, stuff like that. I filled out paper work for this so all that happened was a nurse first talked to me about the other options like nuva ring and the patch which are the same as the pill and then depo-provera (the shot). I told her what I wanted and she made note of it. Then she asked about my sexual history. Not too many questions, how many partners in the last year, how many partners overall and their sex. They'll ask how long you have been with your current partner as well. Then someone will take your blood pressure for sure. I am sure you will have a lot more questions and almost def, an exam (especially if you have already had intercourse). For sure they will ask if your parents know you are their. If they don't I am pretty sure you have to sign a confidentiality form. I went through Planned Parenthood for mine. In the end they gave me 6 months worth of birth control pills for free because I make almost no money because of college! Lol. Good luck just don't be nervous I am sure everything will go great. Remember the doctors and nurses want to keep you healthy in all ways so do not lie about ANYTHING! I hope this helped! *Amber*
They will ask if your sexually active, if you've had unprotected sex within the last month, and usually if you say yes they will postpone the pill for one month to make sure your not preggo. They will suggest an annual physical that includes a pap smear (if you have been sexually active before) they may not have time for this unless you already specifically asked for a physical, you may have to make another appointment. To get checked for stds they will take your blood, but there are many stds they don't check for unless you specifically ask for them to check for certain things. These extras (i think) call for vaginal swabs!
I have no clue because I've never been tested but I think they will do a pap smear and maybe some other tests. As far as questions go they will probably ask you about your sexual history.
