I'm writing a paper right now about the psychological effects of transsexualism, with and without sex-change operations. So I was wondering what you all think about the subject-do you think trans gendered people should be able to get sex-change operations, and should they be legally recognized as their pre or post-operative sexes?
They should be able to get them as long as they pay for them and the state doesn't have to. They should be able to be legally recognized as whatever they sex they wish - pre or post or in between. Just as long as they don't go on about it all the time.
There are a few different aspects of this. Some people are born with indistinct gender (hermaphrodites) and are simply assigned one at birth. There are other cases where people simply have the wrong genitalia for their biochemical make up. Transsexuals are generally distinct from transvestites who more enjoy the role of the other gender as a form of erotic and psycho sexual play but who aren't necessarily interested in becoming the portrayed gender.
Yes, we should grant them the rights of post operative gender and in many cases, we already do.
Anyone that has a class or does a fair amount of research on trans gendered people will come to realize it is very real. Being a woman in a man's body, or being a man in a woman's body, are both situations that really do happen. What someone does with his or her body is his or her own business, and if testing confirms the person really has a gender identity disorder, then they should be recognized as his or her MENTAL sex. What they FEEL they are. The only problem is I think they'd need a sex change before they could go into the restroom they FEEL like. We can't have women walking into mens bathrooms or vice versa, even if the person identified with a gender opposite of his or her body, we'd just have a slew of perverts claiming they have gender identity disorder too.
One thing I was glad to find is that the IOC recently made it so that they can compete as their reassigned gender as long as they have had the surgeries and have been on hormones for at least 2 years - 2 months ago
ok if your doing a paper on it try find clips of the documentary lucy teen transsexual its eye opening!
me personally would find it very hard to deal with a loved one becoming a transsexual because it would be like them dying and a new person coming to replace them!
but I have no problem with it and I feel that it is a real problem to feel like you are the wrong gender and that you don't belong! I mean how would you feel if you were a guy but thought and had the same mind as you do now as a girl? it wouldn't be a nice thing would it?
nobody should be judgmental on transsexuals as they clearly have suffered enough and don't need people to be ruining there new start as a transsexual!
i know a transsexual she's my cousins friends and she seems so happy as a women and is really outgoing and I'm sure she wasn't half the person she is today before she realized she was in the wrong body
yes they should be aloud get sex change operations as if not some of these people commit suicide because they can't go on in the body there in and I mean if we can give some vain person who just wants there boobs done or whatever for a vain reason why can't we give a transsexual a operation that will change there life for the better and might even save there life as they won't be depressed or trapped in the wrong body no more
