Guys: Can you get an orgasm just from simple grinding/making out?

So my boyfriend and I frequently grind while making out and such, (we are both wearing clothing etc etc.) but he told me that he can usually orgasm from that. I know that simple grinding would never get me off, so I was just wondering if that's common for guys. If so, its great if I don't always have to finish him off with a hand or blow job but I didn't know if he was saying that just to make me feel better and less pressured into going down on him.

any time there is physical sexual stimulation there is potential for orgasm. it just depends on how aroused, or how sensitive/desensitized the guy is.

Well it is definitely possible for a guy to orgasm just from grinding or similar stuff. It doesn't always have to be by how you said or a special hj. Just keep doing what you're now doing since he seems to enjoy that and so do you. Also like you said, it takes off pressure from you of having to go down on him. You can get him off a lot of ways besides going down on him. That should ONLY be done if YOU want to do that, not him.

That's a definite yes, our orgasms usually consist of straight forward back and forth motions--nothing fancy. Grinding could most definitely do that. So he's probably not lying to make you feel better.

  Well, to answer that question, I'd say that he is about ready to orgasm and stopping the grinding helps him keep his cool. I don't know if you know this, but guys lose a lot of their sexual drive after an orgasm. Sometimes it takes way too long to "recharge the battery" . So, he's probably just trying to enjoy your company a little longer. And no, it doesn't hurt us to stop right before an orgasm, sometimes it makes it all the better. Just ask him subtly next time he stops if you should slow down.

  Ok awesome. but now I have another question. sometimes after going at if for a while, he'll just stop grinding.. and I can't tell if he's actually having an orgasm or if he's just giving up on that particular circumstance because its taking too long, etc. etc. I dont' know if it would be bad to just ask him if he did for fear of ruining the moment but I was just slightly confused on how to react. I always thought that it hurt to be so close to coming then just giving up! hope that makes sense
