I read an article about this so out of curiosity I wanted to put this question out there. how many sexual partners in your lifetime is too many? What defines a slut? And is the number the same for men and women, or is the same old double standard still in effect?
definite double standard going on bu tit does all depend on who is calling who a slut . if another girl gets a guy another girl in a bar wants she is called a slut right. from her and her friends . on the other hand the same situation and the guy is a stud. or a guy goes out with his ex girlfriends friend the friend is now the slut. I really don't think it matters except in who is doing the calling
Take it down to the biological level; after sex, a woman possibly gets pregnant; as a result, she now has to carry a baby for 9 months. Thus, biologically, women are engineered to protect themselves from getting impregnated,and thus, once they decide they do want a child, they selectively choose a mate; man on the other hand think in terms of, how many seeds can I spread? Five is a ridiculous number. Every one of my friends except one has had sex with more than five guys. So to you they're all sluts? That's just judgmental and weird. Maybe 5 one night stands- but that's not fair to say, any girl that has had sex with 5 guys is a slut?
I like long relationships and I have had 5 last over a year. I didn't have sex with one of them- but still if I had, I don't think it wouldve made me a slut. I think it just depends on the girl and the situations. If every time its a guy she met 10 minutes ago-then yeah, okay. - 3 months ago

Here is the problem with the question.back in my college days, I met lots of girls that had a new boyfriend on a weekly basis, and they all had sex with these bfs, cause after all, they were the bfs; however, in their minds they were not sluts because they were having sex with a bf, and not with some guy they met at a bar.
By the same token, I also met really nice girls, and because they were too nice, they got played too many times, and well, they did have a few sexual partners, but it was because they got played. So is hard to say what makes a slut because one girl can say, oh I had 10 bfs in the past 6 months, and because they were all 'boyfriends", she had sex with them; I could also meet a girl who might have had 2 one night stands, and 3 fvck buddies on the side,and never had a so called bf; yet, most people would consider this gal to be the slut, but in reality, she is having less partners than the gal that had the 10 bfs. So who is the slut? :)
Now, since you asked, what is too many girls for one guy? Well, again, who knows? I had a nice friend that believed in just having sex with one girlfriend and not sleeping around; well, his girlfriend of 4 years cheated on him, and since he was so heart broken, we told him to go screw as many girls as possible so that he could see what he was missing out, and maybe help him forget his ex gf. Since he is a fairly decent looking guy, in a period of 3 months, he probably had sex with around 20 girls; but yet in the last 4 years he had only slept with one.anyway, he found another good gal, and hasn't gone back on his sex rampage that he had.so is he a male slut fo having had that many girls in 3 months?
I think what really matters is, is the person you're dating out to get more numbers under his/her name, or is this person ready to commit to one?

i don't think it matters how many sexual partners you have. It really depends on the person and the situation. You could have met ur match at the age of 18 and only ever slept with him or you could meet him when ur 50yrs old and have had numerous of partners.
The way I see a slut is simple. If sum1 can remember and name every single person they have had sex with then they def not a slut. If they can do this then they obviously cared 4 these people at some stage so there is no number on it really. although if the person says they slept with a load of people and only met them 2 mins b4 can't remember nothin else or how many then they need 2 calm down and find someone they care about.
I wouldn't look down on a 1-night stand either I do think every1 should try it once in their life just like everything else. But my views go towards guys and girls it really doesn't matter which as I don't think the double standard should be in effect anymore
A lot of the number game is going to be kind of random. I have a friend who'd been with three guys when she was 20, the same number I'd been with. However she met the perfect guy for her right then and they got married when she was 24. It didn't happen to me. I'm 29, and wasn't with the guy I'll probably marry until I was 26. So my number is a lot bigger then hers. It should be, I had six more years of playing the field before I settled down.
Also, I just hate the slut label. It's awful. It assumes that it's a bad thing for girls to have sex, and I just can't accept that. Especially not if it's also considered a good thing for guys to have sex.

In my opinion, there can't really be a set amount of partners that would qualify you as slut. I define a slut as someone who has sex with someone they don't actually care about, whether it was 20 people or just one. It's certainly possible that you've had sex with 20 people but you really cared about all of them. So I don't think that would mean you're a slut. So it just depends. Basically I'd have to consider the situations.
