What's up with girls hating pornography?

I think part of it is the difference between the sexes. Girls have to somehow be involved, mentally, to really enjoy something - the visual alone doesn't do it. That's what romance novels are for - it's more in your head, so girls can get more into it. As such, they don't understand porn.

The male libido is also MUCH different than the female. Personally, I have no objection to porn because a) I fully admit to reading trashy novels, which is pretty much the same thing and b) if I'm dating a guy, there's a good chance he'll want sex more than I do and porn's one of the ways to offset that. But I think that's another reason girls are threatened - they think it's a replacement for the girlfriend. Which, as I understand, it's not - it's just a physical thing, unless you cross the line into actual addiction.

Porn would be great if a) male porn stars were more than just a dick with legs, you know if they were REAL hunks... too bad those only do gay porn or b) if women looked more normal. I mean come on, put yourself in our shoes, it's hard to feel sexy when there is an uber hot babe on screen and you're getting off to her, or if you watch it together for the first time it's hard to wonder if you're thinking she's hotter, which you probably are, 'cause they generally are hotter than us. But the guys? Yuck. Yeah, if I had to choose I'd prefer girl on girl 'cause guy porn stars are GROSS.

i think its because its just sex.not sex coming out of love w ur partner. and yes it threatns girls cause I feel pressured to do what my boyfriend sees them doing or else I ll feel I let him down or couldn't satisfy him. I feel real life sex is different from porn

i dno why girls hate on porn... I've recently just started watching it more than I've ever before... and it's great! I love teasing myself, and thinking about really dirty things. a game I like to play is to start watching porn, and seeing how long I can go without touching myself and climaxing... I've never made it past 3 minutes.

i watch it all the time. I think tons of girls lie and say they hate it and that they don't watch when when in fact, they do. I knew a pastors daughter who watched it all the time but you wouldn't know by the way she acted.

I don't feel threatened by it at all but I think that's because I have watched it for so long. If a guy was acting disinterested in me and only wanted sex after we'd watched porn then I'd feel angry. Other than that I love it, love to watch it alone and with friends and boyfriends.

I'm not sure I will truly understand the issue with pornography for many women - would love to see what others have to say on the subject though, especially those with a differing opinion.

it doesn't make a difference to me. I understand that guys have needs. I'd rather him be off doing it to some movie rather than with another girl. I'm neither here nor there on this issue. I'm not for it or against it. whatever makes him feel better =]

I don't mind if my boyfriend watches porn, because I do. I'm the type that goes about it as "if you are going to do it, then that gives me full right to do so. " But he's been giving it away lately saying that he can't get hard off it anymore. I compensate for it.
But that's aside the point, I find porn pretty erotic when I'm not with him, or just to excite the moment a little more. Since I can pleasure him, and the porn also helps me. I'm not all to concerned about him being distracted by it whenever.

I don't have a problem with it as long as it's not interfering with the relationship (like the guy always seems distant during sex cause he's off in some fantasy land, or if it becomes an addiction where he's spending hours a day watching porn). In fact, I like porn, and I watch it myself and with my guy every so often. It can be a good way to learn what turns you on (and also get ideas on how to make sex even better)!

The main thing is balance and moderation. Obsession with porn is definitely a huge turn off, but moderate porn is normal.

I'm all for porn- I like anime porn better...more interesting! I guess some girls don't want their guys to look at other naked womens bodies, so guys don't have ideas to "wander" and find someone else. I think its a natural thing, just another fun thing to do.

I think that's a total misconception. I love porn, its the best foreplay lol. Girls like porn just as much as guys do, some girls might not want to admit it but its true!

I don't have anything against porn, though a lot of it doesn't appeal to me personally. I have watched it with my ex and I definitely don't feel threatened by it.
And personally for anyone who thinks it is degrading, I think watching commercials where it is always a woman washing the dishes or scrubbing the toilet is a lot worse.

Really most girls do not like porn until the first time they watch it. Ever since I saw the first movie that I did I have liked it. I noticed that it turned me on too and that I can learn from it.

I'm not sure. a lot of girls don't like porn because we see it and it looks so perfect and great, and then we want our sex to be exactly like that but it's not. Porn has never turned me on at all and I find it disgusting. people just having sex in front of cameras for money or just to look sexy.. It's gross. They just look so perfect at sex on that camera and that makes us feel like we suck at it compared to them and I worry that the guy I'm doing is gonna think I'm bad at sex or something after they've seen those perfect porn stars.

Porn is normally very dirty and dramatic and when women decide to be intimate with a guy they want it to be pure and passionate. Porn just seems to be the opposite of what a girl wants her sexual experiences to be like and so we don't want to feel pressure to have sex that reflect the type of sex in porn.

I believe that naive young teens who grow up getting told stories about sex and watching porn end up thinking that these fantasies are actually what really happens in a relationship. I personally think that some guys these days actually believe that under our clothes, girls are typical porn stars!

I think this then leads to a girls confidence getitng screwed up as guys MAY be disappointed when learning that girls aren't all fake and unnatural like they are in pornorgraphy.

It's a fantasy world. In my opinion, watching it with my man or alone is cool. . Women or men can learn a lot to further their sexual life. A lot of women are just insecure with themselves, thinking their man wants to jump into bed with one of the stars.( It may not be the real thing but as a couple you can make into a real thing. ) Women need to be strong with their sexuality.

I would say because we want to be the only girl in our mans life and knowing that he watches other girls and most likely is wishing he was there is well it bothers us. But that does not mean we are completely against it (I speak for myself). Like I know I will watch it with him, but not alone, its just weird. Nevertheless I am more against it than for it, because it could ruin a relationship. The guy may want us to do things he has seen and some women just can't do that. Okay think of it this way. Girls are self-centered right? So when a girl stumbled across her mans hidden pornographic things, her first thoughts are "OMG that perv! Why is he looking at other girls? Am I not enough for him? Do I not please him sexually? Is he just looking or is he doing more? Why was he hiding this from me? He must know he's doing something wrong!" and so on...

We want to believe that we are the only girl in the world that you find attractive (yah I know totally ridiculous but hey what do you expect from a girl?) Porn threatens that ideal, its cold hard evidence that not only do you look at other women but you fantasize about them too! Some women cannot handle this, not only are they threatened but they are insecure about their own sexuality simply by the fact that we are not enough to please you, because honestly some women couldn't handle the amount of sex it takes to please you. Some women are completely secure with their sexuality and they understand that porn is more than just about them.

The truth is porn hits a sensitive nerve where some girls are just not secure enough to accept that their man may need porn. As for the "feminist arguments" that's only for certain kinds of porn, and it is true but mostly because there are a lot of psychos out there.

As for me, I don't like porn (and believe me I've looked at and for a lot with my guy) because its fake and because the people are so fake they are just not attractive enough for me... Its kind of like looking at a drunk slut and saying "Hey that's the woman I want to marry!" Crappy sex with fake ugly people it just doesn't work very well together for me...

I think some women just won't admit it to themselves that porn is fun. I understand the idea of porn being fake, but nevertheless it's a thought of doing those same moves with your partner and making it all the more real is what counts. I for one have no problem with porn, learning a new move and a new way to enjoy my partners and myself sexual desires is all I need. I want to know every waking touch of my partner and we're both comfortable with it. Learning one's sexual pleasures is always a step for me.

The reason is that it is fake, and that it will never happen. Guys watch this and probably wish it could happen the same way for themselves, but it usually never does. It's unrealistic, sex will never happen that way.

Porn is just all fake and it has nothing to do with love making, so why do guys love watching it so much? Most guys, instead of making love to their girlfriends, prefer watching porn.

Many of them do like it, especially if it the kind that is tailored towards them.
It's just that they don't talk about it much, so that they aren't seen as a freak. Society makes it easier for guys to like that, but not so easy for women.

Seems to me any feminist arguments relating to objectification and violence are silly, or at least way too narrowly defined. You ever check out Cosmo, Mademoiselle, or tv commercials? If woman are worried about objectification and demeaning portrayals, then they should focus on media that girls use to define how they should be, look, and act. No girl watches porn and says "Hey, that's me someday" anymore than they dream of becoming a hooker. It's silly - focusing on some side thing and letting the real power go uncontested.
