Is masturbation good or bad and why?

I don't think it's bad, masturbation is fun and I say go for it! :)

There's nothing wrong with it. It's healthy for you, and it's done at no one else's expense at all.

You probably have conflicting opinions about it because of how you were raised. Most children in the U.S. are raised either in Christian households, or households with predominantly Christian values. Many people believe that onanism (masturbation) is a sin that should be avoided. Obviously, given our current culture, this is an unrealistic expectation.

From a medical standpoint, it's healthy and recommended; if you didn't do it yourself, it would happen in your sleep. From a personal standpoint, it helps to maintain your abstinence. At least you aren't out having sex with random people--you're taking care of your own needs.

Your guilt is understandable, but you should temper it with the knowledge that nearly everyone does it, and those who don't probably have some other kind of sexual release. So, don't feel bad about it. There are so many worse things in the world...

Masturbation is definitely a healthy thing, especially if you don't have sex regularly. It clears old sperm which keeps your testicles creating newer healthier sperm and it stops you having so many unwanted boners.

When I was younger I used to fear that it was wrong and immoral. Yet it is the strongest urge in our existence to release any pressure, whether it be physical or mental.

I believe from a healthy stand point masturbation is better than letting the pressure build until you have a wet dream (which is the body's way of releasing that pressure). Either way it's coming out... so why not have fun?
