Guys: Do you use pet names (sweetie, baby, hun, hunny, babe, etc.) on girls you don't really know but instantly feel like you click with?

Girls: What do you think about that?

Update: Added Twist: If you do use pet names often for someone you don't know all that well, is it because you don't want to confuse their name?    26 days ago

Nope, I definitely don't. Pet names are reserved for relationships, and even then I generally try to stay away from them. Too cutesy.

I used to call my girlfriends weird pet names like "meanie," "double D squared" (she was my designated driver because she didn't drink, and she had humongous boobs), "geek(y)," or some variation of their name. All the names I called my girlfriends had to have some kind of history behind it, not just "dear" or "hunny."

Question Asker I don't find dear or love all that bad if I find you attractive. However, babe, I would immediatly be turned off regardless of how attractive you are. I don't know why, it's just an odd thing for me. - 26 days ago

i only ever called my ex pet names after a couple years dating. never the traditinal. "Smelly toad", "Sniggin", "Tennis ball head" A sh*t load, some other gearing toward the x rated lol.

I do know men and women who do call each other babe and hun when they do not really care for that person, and it makes me sick.

It feels a bit weird when guys I don't really know call me a pet name, but I don't say anything when they do . I love it when my boyfriend calls me baby, hun, or "my love", though. It seems more affectionate when he uses pet names as opposed to when some random guy does.

Question Asker I totally agree. Often I get called babe or baby by random guys I don't know... I never really know how to mention that its uncomfortable for me. So I tend to mention it infront of him to my girlfriends. Like randomly I'll say "You know when you're on a first date and..." - 26 days ago
Answerer Lols! It's so awkward! And that's a really good idea! I'll try that sometime! ^_^ - 26 days ago

I think "pet names" can be great, but people often use them to avoid calling you by the wrong name, that's not always the case, but if you just met and barely know each other it might.
