The difference is that low-rise sit lower on the waist. Actually, low-rise means that they sit around the hips. Low rise isn't as fashionable any more. Higher-waisted is more popular now.

Yes, that's the absolutely only difference. I didn't know that you were thinking about them for yourself. I thought you were asking on behalf of a woman. Usually the term, "low rise" is only used for women's jeans. For men's jeans, I would not worry about the fashion thing. High-waisted is not in fashion for men! Only old guys like high-waisted pants. It would be fine for you to get low-rise. - 22 days ago

That's often the case! Different brands have different definitions. The definitions even change within the same brand! I always try jeans on first and never order online. I thought it was easier for guys. - 22 days ago

boot cut jeans are a type of bell bottom, where the jeans become wider below the knee, in boot cut fit usually a bit lower, low rise simply means the area from the bottom of the crotch to the top of the waist of the pants is lower than normal. Pants can have one , both, or neither of these things.
I really don't know which is more fashionable. For myself I prefer low rise pants because of the fact I'm only 5'6" If I were to wear my pants all the way up to my natural waste line I'd appear to be mostly legs. As far as the legs go, I prefer whatever fits best that isn't too baggy or to tight. - 15 days ago
