You don't have to tell that you love someone. It's not through the words that your love ones understand you love them. Love is when you care about somebody's self-development. It means care, and even confrontation (sometimes people need it), at times direction (but not domination). So as you see it's more than just those three words.

Telling someone else you love them is just one way to assure them of your feelings and is in a way the best to go, however, it depends on whether or not you really mean it. I think the best way to let someone know you love them is by bieng there for them, being a good friend, always wanting thier best in life and just building yourself as a support. Doing good things for people that you really care about is the real way to make the "I love you" words be put into affect. If someone just says "I love you" but doesn't really prove it, or show it, then it doesn't really mean anything. And its not just girls who claim to say "I love you", anyone including the guys, that find the need to say it will say it.
