Why does my ex boyfriend act so strange around me?

My ex and I broke up almost three years ago... whenever he sees me around our campus he looks at the ground or pretends he doesn't notice me! What's the dealio? We don't talk anymore, but I know he knows who I am! I'd say hello if only he hadn't completely ignored me the last three times he saw me! It's just so awkward! oh men.

Okay, I know this from the guys point of view. my ex (lets call her jodie) broke up with me

and I REALLY want to talk to her, be her freind again. but do you know how awkward I feel. its because she's a girl, and I don't want to upset her or talk to her if she's not okay with it.

because you're the girl, you have to make the first move if you want it to go anywhere, because it can be really embarassing when your ex tries to talk to you and she seems so beautiful and all you seem is insignificant in comparision.

make the first move, try to catch up with how he and his life is going.

Yeah, I can see where you're coming from. I've already tried to talk to him a few times actually. He's never called me or anything. It's not that I WANT to talk to him, I just wish we didn't have to pretend like we are complete strangers. I mean, how hard is it to say, hi, how's your family?

Either he wants to be friends and just feels awkward or he really just wants to forget you ever existed. The only way to find out is to approach him. I don't ever want anything to do with my last ex, after we were together 6 and a half years. She left me out of the blue and wrecked me for quite a time. Maybe he just wants to move on with his life.

I really think that he just wants to pretend like I don't exist. That is SO weird. Why do people do stuff like that?

depends, if you dumped him and the breakup wasn't good, then I think he has a good reason to treat you like this. Ask him directly, don't be scared. Guys like it when a girl is direct. Personally, as a guy, if I was dumped I would not want to waste any of my time giving attention to a former girlfriend. But I want to add, I think you're doing a good thing by saying hi and stuff. It shows you're above being just 'ex's' and you're polite enough to him. :)

okay, so this is a little confusing, but he was really awful to me... treated me like a ho and not his girlfriend while he was in front of his friends... so yes, I did dump him... but then 2 weeks later he said he loved me and he'd make it up to me etc etc and then I came to surprise him at school and he got really upset with me because I ruined his plans with his friends... it was an ugly breakup I guess. So yeah, I kind of dumped him? but for a good reason haha.

THEN FORGET HIM OUFFFF! just erase him , don't talk to the guy anymore :) Ok? Get a real man. One who is willing to just embarass himself anytime for you, one that will do anything to come surprise YOU, not you having to surprise him :) Trust me, there are good guys out there

Guys look down when their embarrassed, humbled, have a shy feeling or want to hide something. He may have a girlfriend but that doesn't show 100% that he is completely over you so that's why he looks down because he's afraid of those feelings coming out. I still have deep feelings for my ex girlfriend. She has a new guy but I believe she has feelings for me somewhere.
