Do you think being reminded of your ex is JUST a coincidence?

Today, twice, I heard me & my ex's song. It's an older, cheesy, 90s song. So, it's never really on the radio & it's not really popular anymore. It's rare to hear it unless purposely looking for it. (Kiss Me by Six Pence the Richer.)

I heard it TWICE today completely randomly. One time at the store & then I heard my sister listening to it on Pandora. It was really, really weird. Yesterday, my room actually smelled like his house & I think it was from the candles & cat I have. But dang! It was like dead-on his house!

I've had this strange theory that when something random explicitly reminds you of your ex & only your ex, (whether it's randomly hearing your song or seeing an ad, or anything,) that it means they're thinking of you! I know that seems ridiculous because why would my ex be thinking about me!?!

Maybe it's all a big coincidence.

Anyhow,

How do you feel when you're reminded of your ex? Do you think it's just a coincidence?

As much as it would be great to think that is the case it sounds like you might be holding onto the past still. if we are completely honest, if you are desperate enough EVERYTHING can remind you of your ex if you think about it too much and don't use it as any kind of hope for the future or anything.

I used to think of everything that reminded me of my (ex) guy. it ended up making me happy for a short moment until id realize we weren't together anymore which killed me inside. not a good place to be.

Yeah, I think I kind of am. So, you're right. But, I'm over him to where I wouldn't ever take him back. It's not that literally everything reminds me of my ex, it's just certain things that we had both associated in our relationship. i.e- Our song, The Marines (Cuz he's one.) Ya know? Anyhow, thanks for your input. :) And I agree, thinking about past lovers is definiitely not healthy.

If it's a cheesy song, I don't think anythng about it. It it's one of the really enchanting songs I associate with her, I have to stop what I am doing and take a few ddep breaths

Of course it's just a coincidence! Otherwise, some of my exes would always be hearing songs like 'I'm over you.'

The song that I described as cheesy wasn't just any song, it was OUR song, so, I associated it with him & our former relationship. So, yeah. I have to take some breaths tooo.

Yes, sometimes cheesy can be affecting, that's for sure. Deep breathing is healthy anywa!

I often think of one woman. I enjoy it, and keep remembering.

And I would prefer to subscribe to your theory, that the other may be thinking of you.

I don't know! Some days I'm over him & then some days I miss him. But I don't think I'd date him again. Become friends? Sure. But dating.. no.

Well, Inge's been in my thoughts EVERY DAY since May, 1965...and I've had three marriages, the last one happy, not delirious, happy.

I often wonder what a marriage to Inge would have been like. That's all I can do. Often wonder. :-(
