If someone dumped you for someone else then came back to you, would you take them back?

I just saw an expert answer saying that if you got dumped for someone else but then your ex came back to you, you shouldn't care about what happened before, or even why they came back you should just be happy they came back and live in the moment.

In my opinion, if I got dumped for someone else I wouldn't take them back when it didn't work out with the other person. I would need to know that they came back because they really want me and that they wouldn't hurt me like that again. If you let someone get away with hurting you like that and take them back no problem, they will hurt you again.

So, my question is:

Would you take back an ex who dumped you for someone else? What if they came back because it didn't work with the other person? And would your answer be different if they broke up with the other person because they still had feelings for you?

I would take it slow to get to know them again..I might have residual feelings left for a previous ex-bf if he treated me well. During the time we are not exactly friends, but trying to talk, I would try to see how he's changed if at all. Just wouldn't jump right back in.

I'de only take him back if he goes full out for me, in otherwords, does things to make me happy-I'll see of course if he remembers certain things about me. So I would also take the period of time to get to know them inorder to figure out if I'm just rebound. I'de make sure I'm not too emotional when I meet up with him (I'm quite emotional)

If they indeed had feelings for me, then they will act a certain way. He'll sit down and talk. There won't be any crazy physical sh*t going on, just a talk to see. I wouldn't be completely okay yet because in the back of my mind, I will be thinking about where he's been, what he's done with other girls. That's why it's hard to go back, even if you wish it sometimes.

I admit sometimes I think about it. I'de only go back to someone if factors were out of both our control back then and he's substantially changed since then. If there are still things that I find I can't agree with (deal-breakers) that he knows I'm not alright with, I won't go back. So I guess it's a combination of factors whether or not I would.

If he dumped me for someone else, there will always be that residual barrier to him. Even though I'm emotional, I can be cold-for the one ex who dumped me, I didn't call back even though it hurt then, I just dropped him in my mind also and don't talk about him. Probably wouldn't take him back right away. I would give him credit for trying, only if it's purely because he still has feelings for me.^_^

For me, it would depend on why they weren't with the other person.

If they broke up with them because they still had feelings for me and regretted leaving me, then I'd probably think about it. But if a guy left me for another girl and then she left him, if he tried coming back after that, it'd be flat-out no. That's just disrespectful because I'd basically be the back-up.

So I guess the best thing I could say is, I'd think about it. I don't like to say never lol :/

If someone dumps you for another person they at that time think they are a better option than you. This is the old 'grass is greener on the other side of the fence' idea. Many people make this mistake and then realise that the grass was painted greener. How many guys will seduce a woman by pretending to be who he is not? So the woman is fooled.
Now is that her mistake? How many men or women have affairs with someone who they see exciting temporarily. Then they lose their family, home and partner.
We all make mistakes and women make this mistake a lot between the ages of 40 and 50, but for some reason the general impression is that it is predominantly men who have Mid Life Crisis.
All situations are different and some people are weak. There is no hard and fast rule.

Absolutely not she betrayed you emotionally had another guy in bed has been doing god knows what with him while he has probably been sweating on her grunting like a pig. I wouldn’t have an ex who did that to me near me they would repulse me. Didn’t care enough about you thought she could do better and when she found out she couldn’t comes crawling back. Never take them back they will just do it again no mercy send them away and never let them near you.

Under most circumstances, I would never consider taking back an ex who dumped me for someone else. I hold grudges, but I supposed if the situation was right it's possible. If they came back because it didn't work out with the other person, I would probably tell them; Sorry. You had your chance. Now if they came back because they still had feeling for me and that caused the breakup with the other person, I think that I would consider giving them a second chance.

I might take back an ex the first time, depending on his sincerity. But if it was a reoccurring problem, I wouldn't be able to respect myself if I kept taking him back.
