Biting pencils tips.
I started it when I was 7, I saw my friend doing it in class,
and I liked it, so I stuck with that bad habit.
Every time my mom opens my pencil case,
she sees bite traces on the pencils.
And she's like:
"Tsk tsk tsk.. Daughter, there's an invention called food,
if you didn't hear of it yet!"
I was like, "I can't quit it, this way my brain would be in its peak,
and I would be able to concentrate."
(lol Ryuzaki excuse) -_-"
Later, I knew how harmful this habit,
and tried my best and broke it. ^_^

Pathological shyness, if that counts. If not, I'm also rather proud of breaking my habit of constantly licking my lips. They're really dry so it's hard not to but I started buying some better quality chapstick and it helps.
One of my friends recently got a job as an assistant for a local news anchor and she had a really bad habit of biting her nails. She was told that if she wanted the job she would have to quit so she started biting her toenails instead. Her hands look perfect but I can't imagine being able to stretch that much.
Sucking my thumb. I literally sucked my thumb until my 12th birthday. I quit cold turkey and it was one of the hardest things I had to do in my life. It was to the point where I started crying because I always sucked my thumb, ever since I was a child, my mom always put my thumb in my mouth to calm me down. It was my comfort object, when I put my thumb in my mouth, I felt safe and calm. I guess its a pyschological thing. Have not sucked my thumb nor do I want to anymore ever since I was 12 :)
The addictive habit of eating for taste when I'm not hungry.
-------
I never realized how mindless I was eating until I was in college and weighed very close to 400lbs.
I wasn't eating not because my body needed nourishment...I was eating because I was addicted to the taste of the food and the "food coma" of fullness.
------
I also quit smoking, but because I was a "social smoker" (smoked only when I was drinking), the "addiction to food taste" is a bigger accomplishment imo. :-D
1. gnawing on my fingernails many years ago though. I never believed I would grow normal flest on my nails anymore
2. Living without sugar. I just achieved that 2 years ago. I no longer buy or use sugar for anything(mostly lol)

drinking soda. I would seriously drink a 12 pack of diet coke in 2-3 days. Now I only drink water or unsweetened teas.
Sugarcoating. When I was younger I was always overly-sensitive to other people's feelings and had a fear of confrontation. I haven't turned into a loud-mouth or anything, but if you ask for my opinion I will give an honest answer, even if it's not what you want to hear.when I was younger I would peal anything.
Crayons. paint, book covers.
If it was already pulling apart from itself I would completely peal off the top layer,
I did it with my finger nails too. I never picked them off but I regularly scratched the top layer of nail off, so they were soft.
I did it absent minded too. Like no conscious effort.
No longer pooping my pants is something I'm proud of too.Sugar in my tea! My sister and I used to put a bit too much sugar in our tea. heh I went to a Chinese tea tasting shop with my dad and asked for sugar for my tea and the owner gave me a lecture about it. I decided from then on I wouldn't have sugar in my tea, and I never did again. :)
Overeating/eating unhealthy food all the time.
Yo-yoed a bit at first after losing a lot, but I've been able to maintain for last 2 years or so. Yay-yah! :-DNo, as soon as I am hooked on something, that is it. But I am proud of never going on drugs, ciggarettes and alcohol
Telling people what they want to hear. I used to be a huge pushover, but I've gotten a lot more sure of myself and now I say what's on my mind. :)
I stopped using put-downs. I stopped saying "stupid", etc., even though I had said it jokingly. I saw that as a great achievement, precisely because it was so hard to do.
Biting my nails. I finally stopped in my late teens but bit them all off again when my grandfather died when I was 21 but since quit again. This time for good.
"You must learn to abstain from the company of women" -- the creepy villain in some Jet Li movie, Black Mask I think.
