How many women wear some kind of fake hair?

Question

Some allude to a lot of girls doing it, but no girl that I'm really close to has any of it. I didn't see any ex girlfriends have it. No close family members have it. At most, I know a couple of them have dyed their hair once in a blue moon and even then, it wasn't drastically different than their normal color. So are they the exceptions? Do most girls have extensions and wigs or whatever?

So what does "a lot" mean? Like, what percentage of women do you personally think have it? And how many people do you know that have it versus not having it?

Ok, let me tell you guys a thing. Many people consider their hair as an extension of their personality. This means that depending on how they feel, religious or cultural custom, where they're going, etc. Their hair will change.

I know girls who change their hair color constantly. It does not matter what race they are. I have black, white, and Asian friends that dye their hair black, brown, blond, pink, blue, purple, and green. They cut their hair because they feel like it and grow it back. Actually, my hairstylist does this all the time! I know quite a few people who wear fake hair. Some wear wigs, some wear extensions, basically, however they can integrate it into their hair, they do. (If you lost your hair due to something like cancer, you may choose a wig)

Most white or Asian girls I know.. if they wear fake hair they use pieces, half wigs, and extensions or clip ins to make their hair fuller or longer.. or add color without dying their own hair. (there's also fusion bonding.)

Most black girls I know.. if they wear fake hair they'll use pieces, wigs, extensions (including braids) to get a specific look or make their hair longer. It's also a protective style choice to keep their real hair safe and it saves time.

I don't think I know too many Indian girls that wear fake hair..

A lot of people that wear fake hair will tell you it's real and they will try to make it look as real as possible.. but if you know fake hair and how it works, you can tell.

Anyway, it's supposed to be an easy and fun way to change your look.

Why you say "fake," do mean actual hair AND hair color that grows from the roots?

At some point in time, Most women will wear fake (weave, wigs, etc) hair at some point in time. Maybe like 80% to 90%. When I was little, I've only wore fake hair with braids, twice. I've only wore a sewn weave in my hair once for prom.

There are a lot of girls that do, but hey . . if it makes them feel confident than why not :) But, I personally don't . Just because I find it to be such a hassle putting on fake hair extensions every morning and sh*t . . ain't nobody got time for that lol.  If you just take care of your hair by conditioning it, getting it cut,  and what not . . you won't feel a need for it .  Plus, it feels so much better to know you have natural, healthy, and shiny hair :D

usually its black women or women with like super curly/nappy hair...i know because I live in sh*tty neighborhood and they sell weaves on corner stores...and A LOT of women wear them...

A lot of girls wear wigs or extensions.

Depending on the hair's quality or the race of the person

it's easier to detect it than if it were on another girl.

I like to wear extensions or weaves.

Sometimes I like to rock my natural hair.

When I wear extensions or weaves it's usually to give my hair a rest.

I know a lot of girls that wear extensions and fake eyelashes but I don't and my close friends don't. I don't even wear fake tan. I think almost all girls I know die their hair though. Mines natural now but I've spent a good chunk of my life with semi-permanents close to my own color.

I've been think a lot recently about how common it is to see girls with a massive amount of long hair and I'm beginning to wonder if the natural girls are starting to be considered less sexy because of it.

I considered dyed hair to be fake hair too.It just looks plastic to me most of the time unless it is a very subtle color.I don't understand why people want to dye their hair when they aren't greying.Sorry.

I own clip in extensions but I have never worn them out. They are only a couple of inches longer than my real hair now so there's no point in wearing them at this point but I got them when my hair was shorter. No, most girls do not have extensions and wigs. I think the percentage is definitely less than 10%. No its not only black women that wear them its just that its easier to tell if a black women has them because its harder for them to blend the textures.

I know lots of people who get weaves and extensions and the like.  Personally, I occasionally wear clip-in extensions so that I can put crazy colors in my hair and still have a job.  But that's it, really.

None that I know of. Sometimes I come across women whose hair is way too big and thick to be natural and even the wrong color for their natural hair. But that's mostly near nightclubs and even then it's rare.
