Skylar in Breaking Bad pisses me off. You too?

I started following the series recently and finally made it to where Ted is introduced. Sensing it I googled to check if Skylar cheats with him.

And sure enough she does...I don't like the idea of it all...pisses me off.

Do you feel the same?

I've seen all 5 seasons and I have always disliked Skylar. She didn't appreciate anything that Walter was doing. Risking his life to make sure his family had money and to make sure they weren't in debt since he knew the cancer would get to him eventually.

I feel that if Skylar showed some appreciation and tried to understand what he was doing, he would have stopped with the meth when he originally planned to.

And she always tried to be the victim. She would antagonize Walter and would get mad or scared when he would lash back at her.

The most ironic and hypocritical thing is... she criticizes Walter for being a criminal but then she goes ahead and sleeps with a man who is committing fraud. As if there is any difference between them...

Actually, if any, Walter is the one in real sh*t where as Todd could start over or become a better manager.

Amazing amounts of air-headed-ness displayed by Skylar. I almost want to despise all women for being fickle to an extent lol. But that is just me getting EXTREMELY carried away.

I made that connection at the end because she is displayed as this wonderful wife and mother in the beginning...the best one could hope for and then she betrays her husband in that sense...the sense in which things will never be the same again. I mean she could have reported him to the police...and they could have still put that behind them...but cheating on him alters their relationship forever...kills it.

Her character is SUPPOSED to piss everyone off to get people to sympathize with Walt. It won't be any fun if she's supportive of her husband making meth and being goody two shoes because the series would become dull without anyone to piss the audience off with and understand what Walt must be going through. She's supposed to be the "annoying bitch wife". As for the actress, she's done a pretty good job pissing off people as she was supposed to.

Why does it piss you off? What should Skyler do? Just sit around and let Walt do what he wants--putting the family in danger and taking advantage of her? That's her only way to have control over her life? She annoyed me too, initially but by this point I liked her.

A little behind the times lol? This is exactly why this show is absolutely amazing. They are able to make you hate the (other than the cheating) morally good person and love Walt. Remember that Walt is now cooking meth, lying to his friends and family, ruining the lives of many people, putting his family in danger, is responsible for many deaths both directly and indirectly and yet we can still sympathize with him. You'll grow to hate Skylar even more soon, but really think, what has she really done wrong?

the reason people don't hate walt is because drugs are individuals choices bro.. he never tried to hurt people unless he was drove to it. he's a good "anti hero" as they call it.

shes mainly a bitch because, when you're someones wife you don't become a backstabbing unloyal bitch that doesn't appreciate anything and drives your husband down.

I'm not disagreeing I despised her too. However, if you looked at it from a neutral point of view, she really has not done anything wrong. She has stuck by him through his cancer, didn't rat him out after she learned he was making drugs, agreed to help launder his money. All the while having to simply take Walt's word that it was all in their best interest, and that despite several drug lords now hating the family would be safe.

And Walt definitely tried to hurt people for his own gain. He could have stopped cooking at any point and had plenty of money. He took out anyone who he considered a threat, whether they actually were or not. If you watch to the end you can look back and see the wake of destruction and turmoil Walt's actions have caused. The rest of his family will never be the same. And as Walt finally says "I did it for me."

she might not have done much from a 3rd perspective, but she was the most unsupportive person imaginable. she didn't rat him out only because her kids are on the line. She's the worst kind of wife anyone could have, which is why people hate her. If you're married to someone and you have that fickle of a bond. I'm sad they didn't kill her off in the finale

Yeah I can't stand her. I don't want to give anything away but a bunch of my friends were like "oh I'm kind of starting to like her" and I just cannot comprehend it. I hated her so much that even if she did get a little bit chiller, remembering what she acted like just makes me angry. And she doesn't even do something awesome or anything...she just tones down the crazy a bit and apparently that's enough to win over people.

She gave me an effing headache! I blame her for the life Walt ended up having to lead. She's a ball busting dream killer...sucked the ambition right out of him for years. I know people like this, so even though it's a show, it brought up some real emotions.

Just finished watching today. Kick ass writing, kick ass acting.

yah.. I think she did the character really well(shes supposed to be exactly like you said). Represents reality a lot . That's one of the excellent things about breadking bad.. its got this weird realism to it

It just went to show, women don't want money. If money was all that was important to her, she'd stay with Walt and that would be that. Ted was offering her something Walt couldn't.
