My Fairy Tale Wedding

I didn't want a fairy tale wedding. The Justice of Peace was fine for me - good steak and lobster dinner, maybe a night at a nice hotel for the "honeymoon". It was enough that love found me - I didn't need to announce it to the world with grand gestures. A quiet "I do", a simple kiss, a night together as husband and wife. That wasn't enough for my husband. He planned my wedding behind my back for 3 months - and unfurled it before me like a red carpet inviting royalty.
I woke up on my wedding day to my mother, my two best friends and my sister crowding in my bedroom. I was confused because they all lived far away from me - what were they doing there? The white stretch limo was waiting out front to whisk us away for pampering and make up for the bride and bridesmaids. I saw my dress for the first time in the spa dressing room. Yards of white satin, a creamy frothing concoction fit for a princess. Perfectly fit for me.
To the botanical gardens where 100 of my closest friends, co workers and family were waiting. I was speechless - absolutely speechless. We wed in the cold February morning, surrounded by love, brought together by love - all for me as a gift from my husband.
The reception lasted until morning, though my husband and I weren't there to enjoy it. We had the honeymoon suite at the hotel.
THEN he whisked me off to Vegas the next day for our honeymoon.
It was the most exhilarating time of my life. My life, in those moments, was a fairy tale come true.
That will forever be the best experience of my life.
