City Girl Meets The Deep South

My ex was a Southerner and when we first married he took me home to meet his family. He has a very strong southern accent but I could understand him just fine, and thought Id have no problem being around his family. I was so very wrong and I spent the whole day trying to understand what on earth everyone was saying. I ended up just doing the "smile and nod" and laugh when everyone else laughed thing. By the end of the night his dad asked my hubby if something was wrong with my hearing and why I smile so much...and he kept looking at me like I was so peculiar. I was so grateful when it was time to turn in. The next morning, his mom was up at the crack of dawn to cook breakfast and it smelled sooo good. Coffee was great and breakfast looked amazing. I went for the sausage, and well..it didn't taste quite right. I asked my hubby...is this sausage? And he said yup...so I take another bite, and I'm not really convinced. He then says...ohhh, those are blood sausages, and proceeds to tell me exactly what that is. I instantly felt sick and before I could react, my breakfast came up all over the table! I ran into the bathroom out of pure disgust and mortification...he had to pick the lock to get me out. His dad kept saying, there's something wrong with that girl.

We were married for about 4 years, and I talked on the phone with his mom often, but we never went back to his parents house...I was too embarrassed. They didn't hold it against me though...they just decided I was sweet but very strange and must have a delicate stomach. *sigh!*
