Father's Day - a time to recognize everything Dad has done. Remember when he came to your rescue and changed your tire on the side of the road? Or took you fishing for the first time? Or taught you the importance of a good work ethic?

Whether it's for your dad, father-in-law, brother, friend, husband, boyfriend, or another special man in your life, a Father's Day gift is a great way to remind him how much you appreciate everything he's done! Does your dad love sports? Or is he more of Harley Davidson kind of guy? Or is he into music? It can be something small and handmade, or the perfect card that expresses your feelings.

So, we ask, what are your best Father's Day gifts? Share your ideas of the best gifts that you have given or received, and earn a chance to win a prize!

Contest ends on June 20, and the winner gets 3000 Xper Points!

I think the key is to understand your father; for instance my dad is a carpenter, so I made him a tool box from wood. I cut all the pieces myself; assembled it myself, sanded it, engraved his initials and stained the wood. It looks really nice, he keeps it in good condition and compliments the craftsmanship (how sturdy it is, and pretty). I just say, "I'm only as good as my teacher," and he knows I mean him. :)

I would give my father the gift of time because he never seems to have much. My dad works hard to make sure that I live a comfortable life and get a good education. Because of this I would love to give him the time to do what he wants to for once. He is such a selfless man and if I could I would give him all the time in the world to say thank you for being such a loving daddy :)

My dad lives 8623.56 kilometers away, I rarely get to see him, because of our budget. So IF we had the money, I would go visit him. I think he would enjoy that gift very much.

My Dad is a major family guy. :) We have seven kids in our family - I am the oldest at 16 and all he ever says that he wants is for us to be with him. But this year we are putting together a special poem for him, each adding in a line. And that will be the 'special part.' Also, for a longg time now he has wanted a Coleman portable grill for our family camping trips. So we are all going to pitch in for it to buy it. I'm so excited!

Well the best present I gave to my Dad was when I was 9 or so and it was a letter I framed that told him all the things he has done for me that has helped me out and telling him he is the greatest Dad anyone could ever have. He cried.

My dads birthday is around fathers day so this year were going to georgia for his present and hell get to fish for sharks my Godfather and his family are going to. Two birds with one stone? I think so :)
By Livy-luv   11 months ago
My dad is impossible to buy anything for. SO one day, I took various things out of his home office and wrapped them up! He laughed really hard, and was more appreciative of the real present, and has been ever since.

My dad is one huge couch potato, and everyday we fight over who gets to watch the big TV in the living room. My gift to him would be watching whatever he wants with him the whole day

My dad loves going fishing and camping. The rest of the family has never been into it that much, so all of us are taking him on a 3 day camping trip and we are going to do whatever he wants, even if we have to pretend we are enjoying it. We bought him all new camping supplies and fishing supplies.

Aside from loving and respecting your da so much.. I'm sure old Photos Can Be Fun!Surely in a closet somewhere are some old photos of the family at play. Find the box pass them around and ask Dad what he remembers about the experience in the photo. This is guaranteed to generate both laughs and tears. And it will help you connect with the "old man." And remember, no snickers about his hair, his clothes, or those funky sideburns!

I think the best gift is to spend time with your dad. The activity depends on what your dad's interested in. Mine isn't really into sports, but he is into travelling. So because I couldn't afford something crazy like a vacation, instead we went to the gardens of the world, which made us FEEL like we were in Bali and China and all those countries they have gardens for. It was the perfect gift. Also, I once went to a maze with him. GREAT idea, gives you time to talk, makes you rely on each other..

The best gifts are ones that are unconventional. The ones you would have to really know them to know that it is something they would want. My father is one of the best at BBQ'ing I know. He loves it too and he really appreciates a nice steak or a great cut of meat and BBQ'in it. So, I got him a variety pack of steaks and burgers from Omaha Steaks. It was this awesome sampler pack that had filet mignion, roast steaks, burgers, and hot dogs. He is so excited to grill them on Father's Day!

My dad is an interesting fellow, wheelchair bound since I was 1 year old, from a rock climbing accident. My brother and I thought it would be a good time if we took pops to a stripclub, and back to the place he had his accident. He cried at the strip club and got an erection at the rock wall. Happy father's day!!

I recently found a comic book store that had comics of my dad's favorite super hero, black hawk. I'm gonna buy him a few so he can be all nostalgic and stuff :P

Find out some of the songs he's been listening to or that he says he likes that he doesn't have and make a cd with all the songs. Or if he has an iPod add the songs. Last year my dad loved the cd I gave to him and ill probably make another one wlong with another gift

Id say that if he's lost someone close to him and has their ashes you could get him a more manly cremation pendant and put some of the ashes in it so that he can always hold them close to his heart the way you hold him emotionally. Just to show him that you really care about his emotions the way he does for you.

You could literally go through every catalogue in the u.s and find great gifts for dads. Not all dads are the same and that's the important thing to remember. There are straight gay dads, metrosexual dads, short dads, tall dads, black, white, Asian ,hispanic ,and indian dads. There are skinny dads and fat ones, aethist dads and overly -enthusiastic- about- christ dads. strict dads, free dads...okay there's a whole list! You want to know a gift you can get ANY dad? A back massage :D

My friend's dad is away for months at a time, once even a year, doing his job. He is a trucker and he supports a seven people family. His wife is a cook at our school, making him the sole provider. My friends all sent letters to his boss begging to let him come home for Father's Day. We also sent a couple letters to other truckers asking if they could run his route for a week.
He didn't get to come home, but he recieved the letters when he picked up his pay check and it meant a lot to him.

Ideas: wash his car, cook him dinner, bbq at the beach or the park with family, spend time with him! (go for a hike, go to a sports game, lake trip with the family). The best gift I got my dad was a "49ers" measuring tape, his favorite team + a tool= his favorite gift:) This year I'm going to get him some olives, cheese and some wine because he's Italian and he doesn't like "stuff" (alcohol is also a good idea, Kahlua and Grand Marnier are good for desserts!) Happy Father's day!

People go through so much trouble thinking, I say do the most simplest thing ever. Fold a peice of paper in half and write: "Love, _insert name here"

Every dad is unique and I see that all year with his constant nagging and wanting things done exactly the way he wants it, however at the end of it I could always expect the truth and no matter how harsh he puts things I know I could never go wrong with his advice so knowing the kind of man and father that my dad really is after a whole year of keeping the most miserable daughter in line I would put dad in the biggest grocery and just let him loose because afterme, food is the next best thing
By valleygirl   11 months ago
Every dad is unique in their likes and dislikes so no one gift is the best. In the end, it really is the thought that counts and even if it's the dumbest thing in the world, it will mean a great deal to him in the end.

Last year I made my dad a scrap book with all pictures in and just a few song lyrics and stuff, just to bring back a few memories. You could also do a colage I think this idea is good because it's really personal :)

To me father's day is about spending time with your dad, not just about gifts. Therefore what I give on father's day is my time! and if he is lucky... breakfast in bed :)
By Highambitions   11 months ago
A video of some of the moments you each person in your family shared with him or each person talking about a special moment they shared and what they love about him. Also get his friends and maybe even some close co-workers to say a few things in the video. Make it really nice looking with good transitions and everything and play it at a surprise dinner for him.

Every year it has been a tradition to get my father a new tape measure because he uses the ones we get him to the point they won''t roll out. I know this year everyone in my family is chipping in to get my dad a huge candy basket full of all his favorite candy. I always believed it's the thought that counts so I am making sure I add a homemade card.

Fathers day is a day to remember how luckey we really are and we all come short in letting our dads know that there everything to us so on father day I make sure my dad know that every day that goes by it him that made me the person I am the one man that I know would never leave me and the one who make life the funnest cause he knows how to make me smile and he know when I'm hurt I give him a card and let him know I love him and he is the best dad and no one will ever take his spot
By dianne23   11 months ago
Tell him on this special day how much you love him and thank him for everything he has done, that you appreciate it and really mean it when you say it. He will be able to tell that it comes from the heart. Give him a hug or a kiss on the cheek and spend time with him. Often nowadays, we are so into working and doing things for ourselves that we forget to really appreciate the ones around us. Giving him your precious time is the best you can do for your father for this day, and any day. Have fun!

The best gift for a father who does not want anything but a great photo album that has all his favorite detailed photos such as him as a teenager progressing into his adult-hood with photos of his children and wife organized with a great caption on each photo.
