When a woman spends a lot of time talking about her intelligence or achievements, that sometimes gives off the vibe that she's looking for a high achieving man. If the guy gets the impression that she's always on the hunt for someone better than him, he'll probably lose interest fast. Loyalty is high on the list of desirable qualities. It's more important than intelligence, even though intelligence is important.
A lot of guys are intimidated by intelligent women, yes, but rarely then do they manage to summon the courage to try to ask them out.
Isn't it a contradiction in terms to say a guy who is going out with you is intimidated by your intelligence? Wouldn't he be out with some not-so-darn-smart date?
I get the point you're trying to make, I really do, but I also get that you expect these "self-centered and egoistical" women to just hide their successes and just smile and look pretty (that way she won't make the guy run off) but hiding your triumphs, just to retain a guy/girl, just to be safe and not come off as cocky... isn't right.
I love smart women. Its typically overly educated women who are like this. They think because they have a masters or doctorate or 3 undergrad degrees they are intelligent. No, it means you can take tests and write papers. There are high school drop out girls that are intelligent!
My ex had her GED and liked to act like a ditz but she was actually very intelligent in many ways. We could discuss religion and politics and reason through things together. This was awesome! On the other hand I dated someone recently with a Doctorate degree who thought she was so smart and better than me because I just have bachelors degrees except she is broke as shit and I am way more successful so I think she must be a moron no brain cells. She also sounds like she regurgitates stuff professors told her vs uniquely discussing topics with her own opinions.
People who are intimidated by someone else's intellect are individuals that base their self esteem on their intelligence. So anyone that brings their level of knowledge into question is a threat to their ego.
That's actually a really small percentage of men. For the most part what's actually bothersome are girls that act superior, because of how knowledgeable they are but that's really more an issue of character than it is intelligence.
People are intimidated by someone they see as much more intelligent or educated or cultivated than themselves but it generally doesn't get to the date stage. They just assume they don't have a chance with that person and never show interest.
If someone shows interest in you they aren't intimidated they are attracted. If they change their mind it's because of something else they discovered about you, probably not your intelligence.
Pls see my opinion - I never get to the date stage, they stay my friend and act at some point as if they really really care about me/want me but never act on it.
Excellent take @MaskedSanity ( .. standing ovation ) "The truth of the matter is men absolutely adore intelligent women "... Correct , a woman would NOT select a man with clearly inferior traits & genes , so why would a man select a vapid , braindead bimbo. It is a snarly, egotistical , superior attitude that repels men.
If a woman thinks all the men are intimidated by her intelligence, it's probably because she is manly. And we aren't necessarily intimidated by a woman being manly, we just aren't attracted to it.
I'm not saying there's always that connection, but sometimes yes in my opinion. And of course I'm not saying feminine is to be less intelligent lol, n case that wasn't clear
@lanternhill being smart and assertive is feminine and attractive. But, many intelligent women are serious and stiff.. not playful, sexy.. Does that make any sense lol
so men are serious and women are playful.. thats 'natural, to you?
im sure that makes a lot of sense since in nature females have to worry about protecting feeding teaching rewarding their young. being too serious would get in the way.
It's arrogance that's likely the problem, and arrogant stupid women would be just as bad, or much worse, but I could look past someone who's not always the swiftest if they are an enjoyable as a person as a whole.
I mean if you put three women in a room i think at first the guys will go the dumb helpless girl who makes doe eyed faces at him as he does her work for her. over time however i think he'd get bored and end up with the most intelligent girl stopping in between for the mix.
being an intelligent woman you just have to play a different game and be a bit more patient...
lol but your point was that men are not intimidated by intelligent women. i'm saying why it appears that that men are given that it is obviously a well regarded theory
Completely agree with you, a lot of women can't take a rejection as 'he's just not that into you' and move on... They need to nitpick at reasons and validate themselves to protect their egos.
I'm not intimidated in the least. In fact I prefer a woman who's smart, has a lot going for her and engages in intellectual conversation as opposed to a girl who is dumb and is about as interesting as watching paint dry.

Completely agree.👍
Pls see my response - very curious as to what you think. I appreciate it! Thanks!

I think there was a time when men DIDN'T want women more intelligent than themselves. However, that time has passed.
Perhaps, but it sure as hell hasn't been the case in my experience. Those that complain about being "too smart" are usually around my age or younger.
One doesn't need to hide their success, no. But turning up to a date and spending most of the night praising oneself is ridiculous.
You can share your accomplishments without being stuck up about it.
Humbleness goes a long way.

That is the essence of the take: he's most likely turned off by the smug attitude more than anything else.
I'm intimidated by stupidity, because then I know that everything I say is going to go over their head
I think the word you're looking for is dread.😛

There, I said it.
Don't really see a link between being smart and being manly. :B
I've wondered about this for a while tbh
I'm not saying there's always that connection, but sometimes yes in my opinion. And of course I'm not saying feminine is to be less intelligent lol, n case that wasn't clear
@lanternhill wondering what exactly?
Whether intelligent women come across as less feminine because they tend to be very assertive in a way that society associates with masculinity.
@lanternhill being smart and assertive is feminine and attractive. But, many intelligent women are serious and stiff.. not playful, sexy.. Does that make any sense lol
Oh yeah makes sense - thanks!
Now if you want to talk about a hypothetical manly intimidation... What if a beautiful Woman could single handedly upgrade your truck/house?
so men are serious and women are playful.. thats 'natural, to you?
im sure that makes a lot of sense since in nature females have to worry about protecting feeding teaching rewarding their young. being too serious would get in the way.
@Azara lol u think I'm serious?
And ya I was waiting for a feminazi to freak out doesn't take much lmao
@MimTcgraw dude that's hot lol
Yeah I wonder how a man could handle something so hot yet so intimidating! lol
I love your inb4. lol I am certain those comments are coming. Nice Take.
Hey, thanks. Who knows, it could work as a deterrent.😛
Agree 100%.
It's arrogance that's likely the problem, and arrogant stupid women would be just as bad, or much worse, but I could look past someone who's not always the swiftest if they are an enjoyable as a person as a whole.
Great mytake
Don't forgot about those women who also assume that if a guy does not like them, it is because they only go for sluts
That's a whole other kettle of fish, ha ha.
I mean if you put three women in a room i think at first the guys will go the dumb helpless girl who makes doe eyed faces at him as he does her work for her. over time however i think he'd get bored and end up with the most intelligent girl stopping in between for the mix.

An intelligent woman would already know this and wouldn't whine about her apparent smarts scaring guys away. ;)
lol but your point was that men are not intimidated by intelligent women. i'm saying why it appears that that men are given that it is obviously a well regarded theory
Oh, I don't disagree with your statement, it makes perfect sense. I'm just adding to the bit about playing a different game. :)
lol you have a good way of making intelligence cute instead of condescending THIS is what you should be teaching your smart sisters!
No I want them to be smart as they can be. I need to be mentally stimulated
Completely agree with you, a lot of women can't take a rejection as 'he's just not that into you' and move on... They need to nitpick at reasons and validate themselves to protect their egos.

They are book smart but not socially intelligent enough to determine why the guys rejected them... 😝
I love you Frank Sinatra...
We'll never have a voice like his again :(
yeah I've never understood women who think that way. they gotta get over themselves.
good take.
