Most Helpful Guy

  • It means divorce would cost the guy too much. Like your car, house, child support, alimony maybe even his kids. If she has a really good lawyer he'll still get the privilege of paying for the car and house he no longer owns. CA is a "no-fault" divorce state, doesn't matter if either party cheats...it's expensive for the guy usually.
So you're better off just saying "yes dear" till all the kids are grown and he has enough money left over to leave and pay alimony. You ever notice why most peoples parents divorce after 20 years on the mark? Last of the kids are over 18 no need to pay child support.

What Guys Said 3

  • It means that the costs of a divorce (legal fees, loss of work days to deal with lawyers and judges, etc.), plus alimony, plus child support, plus the loss of half or more of his assets, can be such a devastating financial loss that the guy will stay with a woman he no longer loves, or even likes, because to divorce her would ruin him financially.

What Girls Said 3

  • That a guy cheated on his wife, had illegitimate children, and the wife wants to divorce him and take half of their possessions that she is entitled to.

Instead of giving his wife half of the materials they acquired together, he'd rather keep the wife, than divorce her.
