well my great grand parents met in a nazi consentration camp. an Ukrainian girl and a man from Brussels. they were together their entire lives. they went to live in Brussels, she could never see her family again due to the Berlin wall. but they stayed together.
If you mean a literal language barrier in which you both speak different languages, then I have to be honest and say it's not very likely to survive. You either have to learn his, he has to learn yours, or you both learn each other's.
