If a woman's first question to me is "do you work", is it a bad sign?

I mean before she asks my name. The very first question. Should I worry?

  • It could be that she's previously dated guys who either weren't working, or were stingy about paying their share on dates. That being said, to open up with that question is somewhat presumptuous.

  • It's not necessarily a bad sign but it's definitely mean /rude to ask someone that before you ask for their name or even before you greet them. Most probably the kind of job a guy does is very important to her more than anything.

  • If before she asks your name that's a bit weird I think. Just my opinion.

Go with your gut feeling, you'll know. ;)

What Guys Said 4

  • No...not necessarily. She's probably just tired of dating guys that can't make their own living and or she's sick of paying for everything.

Now if her first question was: "What kind of car do you drive?"

Then that would send up a red flag something might be wrong.

  • IF she asks that before she asks your name then she is putting too much emphasis on what you do/ make in life, and not enough on who you are. Then again it may just be a conversation started because she's nervous?
