Why does he text me random things?

My ex text me randomly last week he asked what college did I choose to go to. Then he texted me yesterday asking for earrings that he can have Because I wear guy studs . I didn't text him back the first time but the second time I texted him and he was like nvrm. He's making me mad he can text me stupid ish but can't text to see how I'm doing?

He probably doesn't want to seem too attached (or doesn't want to be attached), but still has some residual feelings and misses you as someone he could talk to. So he texts you about things not attached to emotion so that he can still have some connection with you, but so he's not in a vulnerable position to talk about how he's feeling.
