I was texting with a guy a lot recently too, we would also hang out at least once a week. I really liked it so I didn't want to stop talking to him everyday. But then came a point when we only sent one or two texts a night and then stop, the next day we'd text a bit more, then it would go back down and the next day it would be a whole text conversation. You have to understand that it will vary, especially if he has other stuff going on. It still bothers me when he doesn't text me. But with time I realized that just because he didn't text doesn't mean he won't ever again. Also he could just be testing how needy you are. Then again maybe he was just looking to get laid (speculating because you say he touched your lower back a lot). My guy never tried to make the moves on me but he still talks to me a lot. And yet I am still not confident he likes me although the signs seem to point to yes he likes me.
You say you were texting every day... for how many days?
Just take it casually. You don't have to cut your losses yet but don't get your hopes up either. Just continue on your merry way and whatever happens happens, that way you aren't wasting anytime and your not stressing.
He could have lost interest. He may be backing off because he doesn't want to come off too clingy. There are many possible reasons, but I would just go about your business. Find some other guy(s) to converse with don't limit yourself to just one guy.
It's normal. Probly nothing to stress about. Guys are like rubber bands haha.
If you were talking everyday, then that can easily get to be too much.
Also, you can easily text him first as well.
