2015 was a great year for television, I've been waiting for a TV Show that could fulfil the emptiness in my heart after Breaking Bad ended. Sob.
We'll miss you Walt. We really will. And I shall always be faithful to Breaking Bad as I've been faithful to The Wire. Ahem.
So, much ado about nothing, you will be pleased to know that I've found THREE shows that could possibly work to Breaking Bad potential. Now that's a tall order, how can any TV show compare to Breaking Bad right? You already hate me right?
Shad up.
We've had some great variety and spectacular production for the shows. The Gloden Globes had a tough time picking their list as you can see how they struggled with it, if you watched it. There are just so many, many nice ones out there. So it should've been 25 at least then. But sadly there's a 20 image limit for MyTakes, so I felt better to do a top 10 list first followed by a runner up list later. I shall also include the IMDB ratings, they're the most accurate presentation of how good a TV Show or Movie is. More so than Rotten Tomatoes and TV.com. So let's get on with it.
10. OUTLANDER (IMDB: 8.5)
Now, this was a surprise entry to this list, because I read the books and I wasn't all that impressed. And even though so very many of my friends said I should see it, being the arrogant dick I am, refused to do so. Ahem. But I'm so glad I did. This is History/Fantasy Romance at its finest. It will charm you. My tongue got stuck trying to imitate that Scot accent but whatever. Watch it and you'll behave like a proper peasant of the 17th century. Also Boobs. Enough said.
9. GAME OF THRONES (IMDB:9.5)
SPOILERS. Lol, no. I've screwed up Game Of Thrones for more people than Ol' Martin could ever kill in his books. So that teaser poster is to keep hope alive, to those who watched the series till now. To those who haven't.
And go watch it. Heck, if the voilence and the gore and the political backstabbing and Joffery dying aren't enough for you. Game Of Thrones also has.
Wink, wink. So all that said, if you don't watch it. Winter Is Coming and it will freeze your balls or your vagina or whoever you are. Also Boobs and Dicks(ewww). Watch it.
8. PEAKY BLINDERS (IMDB: 8.8)
If I were a Six year old after watching this, this is probably the conversation I would have with my mom.
Mom: What do you want to be when you grow up, Jimmy?
Me: A Peaky Blinder, Ma.
Mother faints. Still won't stop me from becoming one though.
This amazing, amazing gem of a series, purely speaking is a late 2014 TV Show. Also immensely underrated. I watched this show and I still can't over that atmosphere. I need a Newsboy Cap. I just need it! It oozes style and booze and tough British gangster roll. CIlian Murphy is amazing. Tom Hardy is amazing. What can I say, I"m flipping over. Best hours on television if not a little short. WATCH IT. PERIOD. Netflix is on a roll on this list.
7. YOU ARE THE WORST (IMDB: 8.2)
My best romantic comedy on this list. This has some of the best humor you will see on Television, also has amazing insight fo being such a light hearted series. So don't be noob and watch it. Also Boobs, maybe? Who cares. Its awesome.
6. BETTER CALL SAUL (IMDB: 8.8)
Sob, the memories. This Prequel/Spin Off focuses on Saul Goodman who becomes a major accomplice and lawyer to Dear Ol' Walt in Breaking Bad. Need I say more? DO I REALLY HAVE TO SAY MORE? Good. Watch it.
5. MAD MEN (IMDB: 8.7)
Ahem, Women's Rights? Lol. Is what these dudes said. Don Draper, farewell to you. I shall always remember you for making adultery the 'it' thing and then downright destroying it. Bipolar badass. Folks, this is the best period drama around, followed for a close second with Boardwalk Empire but enough said. Also Christina Hendricks Boooooobs. Watch it.
4. WALKING DEAD (IMDB: 8.7)
Zombie munchin', gut wrenchin', redneck swearin' drama of the year. Most of you folks ought to be familiar with this one. But whatever. Its here so watch it. Also, Zombie Boobs(EWWWWWW). Watch it anyway.
3. NARCOS (IMDB: 8.8)
"Imagine you were born in a poor family, in a poor city, in a poor country, and by the time you were 28 years old, you have so much money you can’t even count it. What do you do? You make your dreams come true."
Yeah, this series is a masterclass, Netflix at their best. It follows the partially fictional life of Pablo Escobar. Once upon a time, the most powerful crime lord the world had ever seen. His rise and fall are narrated in a such a detailed manner, you forget that its somewhat fictional. Please watch it, if this carries the way its been, Breaking Bad potential it is.
2. MR. ROBOT (IMDB: 8.9)
"Oh I don't know, is it that we collectively thought Steve Jobs was a great man even when we knew he made billions off the backs of children?
Or maybe it's that it feels like all our heroes are counterfeit; the world itself's just one big hoax. Spamming each other with our burning commentary of bullshit masquerading as insight, our social media faking as intimacy.
Or is it that we voted for this? Not with our rigged elections, but with our things, our property, our money.
I'm not saying anything new. We all know why we do this, not because Hunger Games books makes us happy but because we wanna be sedated. Because it's painful not to pretend, because we're cowards.
Fuck Society." Elliot. I'm looking at you @justbanANNAz.
Now this is how you do social commentary, not a single line is wasted. This TV show will have you by the balls from the get go. The constant sense of paranoia. Elliot talking to us, as if he created us. It grabs our attention and refuses to let it go till the very end. Rami Malek and Christian Slater blow this show, they escalate it into one of the best tv shows in the making. I'm so excited for this show and can't wait for the next season.

1. FARGO SEASON 2 (IMDB: 9.1)
"You're always trying to fix everything. But sometimes, nothing's broken."

Yes, first, honestly I thought True Detective would take this spot but what the heck it screwed up. Big Time. Hopefully HBO won't repeat its mistakes. Moving on, Ed's quote perfectly summarizes this show. This anthologhy is a masterpiece, it doesn't need to compete with Breaking Bad because its in a class of its own. All the actors, the cinematography, the storytelling, the mystery. Holy Cow. Amazing show. So this is the definitive show to watch on this list. Thus concluding My Best 10 TV Shows Of 2015.
I hope at least a couple of shows here end up in yout to watch llist.
Honorable Mentions: Ash vs Evil Dead(only because I didn't see it), The Good Wife, Suits, Justified, Supernatural and so on and so forth. A runners up list is in the making. So watch this space. Thank you for reading and enjoy.
