still so what? I can be a real bad role model regardless. I mean she uses phrases like ''f*ck'' ''b*tch'' or ''p*ssy'' all the time, all the words she says don't have any value because she just keeps presenting herself like she doesn't care about any of that. Sorry but i may like some songs but i think she's pretty f*cked up
I am not a fan of Nicki Minaj, and I never have been. We could be in the same store together, and while others are greeting her, I would honestly just walk past. I don't think she is a good role model. I have heard some of her songs. There is cussing, and a lot of bad words, which I am personally not comfortable with. I don't look up to her.
Anyway, well done on your take. I see you worked hard on it. It was interesting to read. 😊

about the dress ripping thing (didn't know about it until now) how do we know what she really cared about? she just said that. only we know what's in our minds. we can always choose to say or act a certain way.
Anyone can look good in the public eye. Her true personality shows when she got all rachet and ghetto at miley cyrus lol. Seriously people say things to sound good... things they don't really care about.

She didn't get "ratchet" and "ghetto" at Miley Cyrus. If anything Miley was the ratchet one for complaining about Nicki to the press. Miley literally complained about Nicki highlighting some racist issues, and had all the right to be mad at her. You perpetuation of racist stereotypes is unwanted. Bye.
I don't hate her nor do I like her. As for a role model I will definitely not follow her. Her music is very inappropriate in my personal opinion and lately a lot of girls are beginning to copy her dance moves which shows a lack of respect.
Yes, it does... The only thing that is getting her respect is fame, if she didn't have it I can guarantee you nobody will respect her, which correlates with lack of self-respect. Observe any normal girl who dances like her and please tell me what kind of result she has to live with
I don't disrespect her, I just don't care for her music, because as loud of an advocate for self-betterment her words may be, her music speaks louder, and it always pits women as "bitches and hoes", like much of the hip-hop genre does. Even if she just does it because it sells, it nonetheless is promoting the message.
The fact that she had to dress like a bimbo just to get her career off the ground is a terrible reflection of today's values. We can't hate Nicki Minaj, we made her.
Eh. I feel exactly the same way about guys who are rocker types at heart, but who got "respectable" haircuts and started wearing starchy suits to get THEIR careers off the ground in fields like finance or law.
In fact, if you don't feel MORE strongly about those guys than about Nicki, you're basically a hypocrite. Because those guys are DEFINITELY sellouts. We don't know whether Nicki is a sellout or whether she's just having a bunch of fun.

Thank you for making this take. I absolutely adore Nicki and it's got very little to do with her music. She's a good role model for a lot of people, who cares if she dresses sexy? Why can't you be a boss ass bitch and dress sexy? Love her.
She is certainly for empowering women. "FUCK THEM SKINNY BITCHES!"

Yeah because one sentence like that completely invalidates everything else she has ever said about female empowerment? I'm skinny myself and I wasn't a fan of that sentence in particular but I'm not gonna sit here and act as though that's the only sentence that she has said that matters.
So if I talk about how I support reducing the gender pay gap, helping to increase women in the sciences, and support paid child leave but I say, "The best position for a woman to be is on her knees.", I'm totally cool right? Nothing I said was invalidated and I still stand for empowering women right?

Very nice mytake. Yes, I agree. I never knew all of these things about her, but I could tell she's a lot more than what just her lyrics would suggest. She's a lot more. Now it makes sense.
ok so there's nothing wrong with promoting the occult? there is a reason everyone bashes her.
Also, she didn't make a name for herself, her career and name was made by the industry. She is a slave, who else better to adore a slave than someone with a BDSM photo.
Like you say my only problem with her is her music - I like and dislike a lot of musicians but they are people underneath - Once they don't cross any lines I am okay with them well I might switch music channel if they came on (LoL)
When it comes down how you become successful, different strokes for different folks. She has more money than me but I don't even care to complain. Good for her.
LOL all the gag hating on Nicki Minaj. What have you done in your life? What charity have you donated to? Do people look up to you? Just fade away in your mom's basement.
I never considered her an artist just like a lot of other people in the crappy music industry today. True artists are from the 60s,70,80, and early 90s bands like the smiths, the cure, depeche mode, the doors, pink floyd those are real artists.

Plenty of "true artists" exist today, not their fault that you only focus on mainstream artists.
How do i focus on mainstream artist lol music today doesn't have the elements of true music instuments are becoming a thing of the past now and most artists today talk about the same crap over and over having money, getting quote "bitches" hustling I've heard over and over music died early 2000s. It's sad i wish i was a teenager in the 80s so many awesome bands but sadly it didn't happen and there are good artists out there who don't get enough recognition because crappy artists are be exposed to everybody on the radio so much it sucks.
Because you're acting as though artists today don't focus on the lyrics, the meanings and the instruments. Plenty of them do, they're just not as well-known as pop artists. If you did some digging on soundcloud, you could easily find some less well-known artists who fit just your tastes.
I do lol lyrics have evolved over the years less and less meaningful in the past few years its become more and more. Why doesn't the mainstream radio stations play heavy metal or new wave music? New wave is one of the best genres out there yet a lot people are unknown of it's existence why? Most people who are not brainewashed would agree with me on this.
a lot of people don't know about the new wave stations very underrated and i don't bash on nicki minaj i just don't like her music like every other mainstream artists today i don't bash her though she's actually very attractive.
Egh. Cool, you don't prefer modern music. But that doesn't actually mean it's "crappy" or not "real music". Get over yourself and learn to deal with the fact that your tastes aren't actually better than anyone else's, they're just different. Honestly I used to do the same thing with the whole "I don't listen to pop music and that makes me better" thing, but then I realized that that's idiotic and just kinda shitty. People are different and you just gotta accept that.
@cipher42 who the hell said it makes me any better? Lol i alway's hear that nonsense when it comes to a defense to defend modern music. Let's face it most artist today are really crappy there are a few exceptions however most so-called artist today suck and whoever voted me down lol butthurt much? Music is slowly losing it's touch and if music is good today why are so many people against it?
Wasn't referring to you, was referring to me. Basically I used to think that way, and that to me seems very similar to the way you're talking about how crappy music today is and how old music is the "real" music.
Again with that. Why do you think modern music is so much better? Just because you prefer it? Maybe there's virtues to older music, sure. I prefer lots of it myself. But there was shit music back in the day too, and there's good music now.
I don't think you're getting what I'm saying. Maybe you prefer older bands to modern ones. But that doesn't mean modern music is not as good, it just means you don't like it as much. All I'm asking you to do is recognize that your opinion is not the end-all be-all, and that if there are people who by and large prefer modern music and dislike older music their opinions are valid too.
I rather like a lot of music nowadays. Dar Williams, Blackmore's Night, Cake, Barenaked Ladies, and They Might Be Giants are all bands who have a lot of music I like. Plus Hamilton's pretty fantastic all around. But that's just stuff I particularly like, there's tons of artists who have talent and make music people like who aren't so much to my taste, but that doesn't mean they're actually just bad.
@cipher42 Well alright I'll respect your opinion, i love the 80s music and I'll admit some artists are bad from that time however most of the artists are good from that era especially new wave artists.

"In an industry that is male dominated."

Ellie goulding,
Iggy azalea,
She's a rapper, not a pop singer.
Her pages says "hip hop/pop"
Hip hop meaning rap. Have you listened to any of her songs at all? She's like 90% rapping and 10% singing.
Plus pop =/= singing, pop just means "popular music" and that can be anything.
i think she's cool especially her family values.
about the dress ripping thing (didn't know about it until now) how do we know what she really cared about? she just said that. only we know what's in our minds. we can always choose to say or act a certain way.
She cried.
and?

Respect has nothing to do with dance moves.
Yes, it does... The only thing that is getting her respect is fame, if she didn't have it I can guarantee you nobody will respect her, which correlates with lack of self-respect. Observe any normal girl who dances like her and please tell me what kind of result she has to live with

What I don't like about Nicki Minaj is what her career trajectory says about us as a society.
This is her early on in her career:

@redeyemindtricks Don't worry. I 100% agree with you on that one.
i must be old for do not even know who 'Nicki Minaj' is
Thank you for making this take. I absolutely adore Nicki and it's got very little to do with her music. She's a good role model for a lot of people, who cares if she dresses sexy? Why can't you be a boss ass bitch and dress sexy? Love her.

You're cool as long as you mean it as a joke, you're not doing it at a tactless timing and it's not coming from a genuine place of misogyny.
Very nice mytake.
Yes, I agree. I never knew all of these things about her, but I could tell she's a lot more than what just her lyrics would suggest. She's a lot more.
Now it makes sense.
She's also a great rapper! (Autotune). Whoa who wrote that there? She also has some great ASSets so she's set.
And dem ASSets are all natural as well.
@FakeName123 bout as natural as dat hair
The bigger question would be what is actually still natural about her instead of what's created with a surgeons help :D
@FakeName123 Y'all are just proving my point.
Okay Ariana go make a crappy beat with your friend Nicki and Jessie that nobody will like.
Her music sucks and promotes bad things for young girls
I'm pretty sure her targeted demographic isn't even young girls to begin with, so your point is irrelevant.
Yes because older ladies love Nikki Minaj
Of course her target demographic is girls 14-24 young ladies.
nicki minaj sucks ass and is a terrible role model. No one should look up to some gold digging, plastic bitch like her.
Thanks for proving my point.
she promotes sex and the occult to her young audience.
yeah, definitely role model material. Oh look! A pic of Ariana Grande with a BDSM costume, definitely role model material right there!
Since when is sex a bad thing?
ok so there's nothing wrong with promoting the occult? there is a reason everyone bashes her.
Also, she didn't make a name for herself, her career and name was made by the industry. She is a slave, who else better to adore a slave than someone with a BDSM photo.

This is the only reason I need to be able to bash her.
Watch at your own risk. I'm told it is highly disgusting.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=P2fmZ2C2CdA
Definitely over rated ! Both Nicki Minaj & wide ass's !
Like I said it's ok to not be a fan of her music. No need to bash her as a person for it though. Clearly it's making money. And I think it's funny.
The music isn't the problem here
When it comes down how you become successful, different strokes for different folks. She has more money than me but I don't even care to complain. Good for her.
