What Guys Said 5

  • Obviously because going to war as a result of you being poor is just such a brighter more joyous topic to sing about than promiscuous girls that twerking.

  • I'm a musician and those songs give messages that land guys in the friendshipzone. Lol I have this joke that the best songs were written in a friendshipzone space. So yeah, they were more positive, but guys like Marilyn Manson were even more genius at the time because they saw the world for what it is and weren't afraid to show it through music either. I think songs are more positive today: every hit song has the lyrical formula of: love, party like there is no tomorrow, fun, etc.

  • I mean there were plenty of other songs besides those three, many with negative themes, but okay.
