Why are there fat people on Walking Dead?

Shouldn't people on there be skinny since the food supply is low and rationed mostly? There's also no television to watch and eat popcorn all day in front of, so how do people on there stay so big?

It's only been about one year in the show's time. A year and a half at the most. Food supplies would not have dwindled so much that people who were fat before the outbreak would have lost all of their weight.

She was done with Shane within a few days of the show starting when Rick found the group, which meant she was probably pregnant while Rick was in the hospital.

And Judith isn't even crawling yet, so that's not more than a year and three months.

@EgyptianNergerts 514 days is about 1 year, 5 months. Considering that Robert Kirkman has said he feels Rick was in the hospital for about 6 weeks before he woke up, my guess of a year and 3 months is almost exactly on the money.
