There is Hip hop and there is Rap; recognizing and understanding the difference is important. Hip Hop is often misrepresented by mainstream rap music. People know who Drake, little Wayne, Kanye West etc are but they're less likely to know who Nas, Rakim, Mos def, Lupe fiasco are.
Although I'm familiar with both I prefer Hip Hop to R&R for one reason. For one it's more lyrical and can encompass a wide verity of different topics just in one song. Hip hop is also very diverse and can be enthused with all other types of music suck as R&R, Jazz, Indian etc.
if you mean 50s, 60s rock and roll and not modern rock... definitely hip hop / rap
if B includes modern rock... then I choose that one. But I'm open to many different music genres, when I was young I listened a lot to rap and hip hop, late teens I had my rock phase and now it's mostly electronic stuff, but I still like all of them
