I like a lot of music from older decades, but definitely a lot of my favourite work has been produced 2000s onwards. I think 2010s music has been really good. The easy availability of the means of music production has accelerated to the point where people who could never make music that anyone would ever hear are now making music that maybe two or three people hear, and in that exclusive stratum is the best music ever.
I am talking specifically about underground music of course. But yeah, my favourite piece of music, ever, is from 2012:
Some favourites from bandcamp:
Here from 2008:
Footwork (which has been around since the 90s, but we only really saw releases from the 2000s):
even some older bands best stuff was produced in the 2000s, re: 'Ape of Naples' by Coil, etc. And this isn't mentioning obvious stuff like Daniel Lopatin, James Ferraro, Vektroid... (even Death Grips!)0

I'm sure they have their reasons, just like we do for loving older music. Personally, I love 80s music because it's exciting, classy, intimate and romantic. I mean, remember the sax? And how every song had a guitar solo? Remember AOR? Music from back then connects with me emotionally in a way that modern music never could. I think that people who like modern music may like it because
1. It connects with them in some way
2. They like dancing to it
3. They like the style1
