My ex gave his friend my number? why would he do this?

I asked a question yesterday and it talked about how my ex had a way of coming into my life again after our breakups since we have been on and off for a year. Well we haven't talked for a month since our breakup but this morning I woke up and had a text from one of my ex boyfriends friends that I don't know he was like what is up my name is josh. then he told me that my ex boyfriend had gave him my number and told him that he should talk to me. I asked him why my ex thought we should talk and he said because he said he thought you might be single and that we would get along.

Then I said that's weird I have never had an ex boyfriend try to hook me up and he said I think he is trying to hook me up with you because I am trying to hook him up with one of my friends.This hurt me because I am not over my ex.Well anyways this guy sent me a picture of himself and he looked really bad not to be mean or anything but I can't believe my ex would do this to me? Why is he doing this?We haven't talked in a month since our last breakup.and I know my ex isn't trying to hookup me up to do me a favor because he isn't the nicest guy you know. so I find this a little weird. what do you think is going on here?

I have experienced the same thing. He was good standing, materialistic, loved me, missed me, then I found out he had, he called an ex-girlfriend who wanted her share back; she was a doctor. She lived with him previously and invested into property, and he got her out of his house (he is a millionaire). Things changed and he started opening up. For all the dishonesty and being scrupulous in the process and materialistic and greedy I decided to break up with him before he dumps me the same way. Two weeks after breakup he gave my number out of revenge to another good standing guy who contacted me. I asked him if my ex boyfriend lost in gambling and freely shared my number with him? I am not being mean also when I say this guy was well situated and looked bad, he sent me a picture.. He asked me if I had kids with my ex-boyfriend... Sounds like giving the numbers turns the guys on. I told him I had a kid with him, although it wasn't true, and the guy stopped texting me. One is for sure, if you were one of the girls that don't have feelings you would run after the new guy and you would become like a majority of materialistic people out there. Be proud of yourself that you know what you want and who you want into your life. You passed the test of resilience. Wish you the best in finding the right one. (studying to become a psychologist just like the doctor he threw out, couldn't resist to give an answer here)

i think his friend asked for your number and just made this excuse

His friend told me he didn't even know who I was that my ex just gave him my number.me and my ex haven't talked at all in a month.

it could be a few things, maybe he heard you weren't over him somehow and wants to give you a rebound to help with just that? or maybe his friend just asked him for the number and he saw no harm in it.

really this is the kind of talk to your ex about and ask him yourself. guys never have 1 complicated reasons for doing things, just 1 of many simple ones that can be found out by asking (in a case by case scenario).

I can't ask my ex about it because we aren't really on good terms at all right now so I know he wouldn't be doing me a favor by helping me get over him, and also my ex doesn't know I haven't moved on.

well then there's your answer.

If you didn't end on good terms then chances are, he could really care less about who gets your number. If that's true then my guess is his friend liked you, and he got your number from your ex so he could get something from you (coffee? date? sex? who knows).

Yea it didn't end on good terms and probably so but then I found out my ex boyfriend told his friend to invite me to the bowling alley with them and my ex will be there. so its just weird.
