What Having a Solid Sister Bond Feels Like

Yep, that's me right there.

Now I don't know about you guys or any other siblings out there, but this is what I feel for having a sister. She is 3 years older than me and she's been my greatest, most loyal friend and enemy at the same time. There are times when I wished I could just choke her to death (no kidding), but there are also times when I wished I could just take her pain and carry her burdens away. That's why I decided to write this take, to share what having a real sister feels like.

1. She is Your Best Advisor

No matter in what situation you are in, she'd always be that sanest person in your life who would point out the truth of what you're dealing with (even though sometimes that truth would hurt you). She'd give you the best way out (though that way out isn't pretty either). But hey, she doesn't just give you a way out, she also...

2. Walk with You anytimes, anywhere, even going through that shit holes

Been there, done that, for... so many times that I lose counts. In my case though, we wouldn't give comfort words or hug each other like those sisters in chick flick movies (yep, totally not us); when one of us crying, the other would do her best to make her laugh by making up some jokes. Then after a good laugh, we would start sharing what makes us crying in the first place and guess what, most of the times we realize that we were actually crying over silly things. We have this theory that we could only see things clearer when we are calm, when we are not blinded by the heat of a moment, when we are not influenced by a sudden raging emotions. And so far, it's been working out fantastic.

3. You two might have lots of similarity, but you gotta remember that you are you and she is she.

Admit it, people will always compare you with your siblings (if you don't have a big age gap) and this happens to me, A LOT. This really sucks, especially when you are a commplete opposite of your sibling. My sister is hella great in science; she loves physics, chemistry, biology, maths, she even took mechanical engineering as her major in college. She doesn't like make-up, romantic movies, wearing skirts, basically anything "girly girls" like. While me, I hate maths, totally dreadful in physics, almost bathed my friend's hand in acid during chemistry project, and totally hopeless in memorizing those bacterias' names. But I'm good with make-up, I'm good with fashion, I like wearing skirts, I like watching romantic movies, I like drawing, I like playing instrument, I like singing and dancing; in short, I like everything that involves arts. When we were kids, these difference might not be a big deal, but when we grow up, somehow it becomes a big deal. Most of my parents' friends would say that my sister's better than me cause she's smarter than me. This gets me one time and once when I got so angry and told her that I'm so much less than her and that she must've been feeling superrior all this time, I remember she said, "Did you drop your brain somewhere on your way home? Where the fuck does that thought come from? You're not me and I'm not you, how the hell are we supposed to be the same? Besides, you're always good in what I'm bad at, is that not enough for you? How selfish are you, really?" - and that's how I begin to even love her more, lol.

4. You two understand each other in the weirdest way

It's a fact people. My sister and I can even understand each other when we try to talk with a mouth full of water, which actually only sounds "mmf-hmijf-mmph"

5. You can hate her and love her at the same times

She could be that devil who makes your day worse than it already was, but also an angel who makes your day worse than it already was, in a fun way (like dragging you to watch movies when you have tons of works <-- yeah right, like it could ever lessen my work loads). But still, you never regret watching movies with her, even in your busiest time. And last..

6. When she chose to be your best of your best friends

19 years ago, my sister was chosen to be "the most annoying" baby girl's sister, she might not love me straight after I was born, but she chose to love me in the years gone by, not for what I am or for what the world has made me into, but for who I really am, as her little sister. She chose to be the best friend I could ever have in my life, and she never once regrets that choice. There are hundreds or millions of sisters or brothers by blood out there, who chose to be strangers instead of best friends. So I'd say this, cherish your siblings, be it sister or brother, cause really, nothing could ever replace family.
