You may have read my last mytake here for fathers day last year, and it was very depressing. I dedicated that to my mother, because she was all I had. For a little over two years now I have lived with her and her fiance.
I'd like to dedicate this father's day to my step dad David.
Honestly, he is a bit of a dick but he is a really good guy. He is the reason I got to escape my "fathers" house, and he's been nothing but protective of me and my sister. He warns guys away from me which is kinda embarrassing but I appreciate that he cares about me.
He takes care of my family and he acts super tough and mean (and looks it) but he's a big softy on the inside. He's been through a lot in his life (he was in the military and a bunch of other stuff) and he has thick skin but I am glad he's my step dad.
I don't tell him I appreciate him + love him as much as I should but I really do. I know that he'd do what he can to help and I know he cares about me even though he jokes about kicking me out the moment I turn 18.
He is the best guy my mom has ever been with honestly. I actually enjoy car rides with just him cause I can play whatever music I want to, and we can be really silent and not be awkward or we can tell stories and talk. That's the only time he really tells his feelings, which I can understand. He has to keep his appearance of a big rock, and I think sometimes he forgets he has feelings and that it's human to do so.
My step dad is someone I look up to, I want to be as strong as he is even if I want to be nicer haha. He's a good friend but he's a good dad too and I really appreciate everything he's done for me, my family and our lives.
