"Get out of my room!"

"Mom, he's touching my stuff!"

"She pushed me!"

These are quotes reminiscent of when me & @choirboy17 were little. I swear, we fought like fiends. Ever since he was born, I felt my life was a big compromise on my part, as in, life was something not all my own anymore, but something to share-share toys, rooms, parents, friends, everything.

Me moving away to college changed that. I didn't realize I had taken a big part of me for granted all these years until the three I spent living away from him. Turns out he missed me tremendously, more than I'd ever had expected. At the same time, me not being there gave him that unforeseen space to find who he really was.

Now I'm back home, & I can't get enough of being with my younger (because I can't say little anymore!) brother. I'm glad I got to return for his last half of high school, & this time around-whether it be vehicle, job, friends, clothes-we (gasp) gladly share everything.

For those with younger siblings, no matter how irritating it might be, don't for a minute think that they are a compromise to your life, the way I tended to see it as a kid. My brother is not a compromise, nor was he ever. In fact, he's more than an enhancement to my life. He's a completion of it. The worst part is the best part-everything in life, we have shared.
