A guy has a girlfriend and she treats him like crap... was what I did bad?

OK so I am good friends with this guy. I didn't do anything to him nor do I flirt with him. He talks to me about his girlfriend and how she is the jealous type. She read through his diary, phone, everything. But I know him and he isn't unfaithful.
I said to him " do you know why she is a jealous person?"
Him: Why
Me: Don't take this the wrong way but you are like a 10.
Him: Really? That is so sweet of you.

It should help him with his confidence and hopefully help him realize that he shouldn't have to settle for who he is with. So he should be motivated to find someone who will treat him better now instead of invading his privacy and such.
