Girls--what do you think of overprotective big brothers?

Mixed feelings. Sometimes having a bodyguard is nice, but I don't like being treated like I'm a helpless idiot.

Honestly, as much as I know I'd be irritated as all hell if my brother acted like that now... I can't help but wish I knew what that was like. It's not that I don't get along with my brother, because we get along fine. But we don't really have that older brother-little sister bond that some of my friends have with their siblings.

We didn't see much of each other in our childhood, because we're half-siblings. Nowadays we see more of each other and we get along fine, but it's more of an indifference. We care about each other and enjoy each other's company most of the time. I've just never had that protective big brother. There's no one to play that role in my life. I have male friends, but it's not the same. He's just another guy friend to me, that's what it feels like. I wish our relationship was different, and that we'd had more time to bond when we were kids. =/

My older is one of those guys he's tryna protect me from. I find it ironic because he is telling me all these bad things about guys and freaks out if someone looks at me (no, he doesn't physically harm people). I remember this one time one of his friends were kinda sorta checking me out but he had never met me and thought I was just some girl passing by. My brother saw his friend and started yelling at him. The funny thing is that the guy had the most surprised facial expression and was all like "THATS YOUR SISTER!" I laughed of course. but I'm happy I have him and that he cares enough.

I love my brother and it's great knowing he's always got my back if I need him. He has never directly interfered with my life, but he's pretty vocal if I ever date a guy he doesn't approve of. As a rule, he generally doesn't like any guy I date very well, but the ones he doesn't think are going to treat me well or who are just bad people, he speaks up about. I like things this way, but I know I'd hate if he was more protective and didn't let me live my life.

You should have put an option for guys who just want to see the results. But I think what you describe is extreme. It goes beyond overprotective and into the realm of psychotic.

truthfully I;ve always wanted a big brother...then again I'm thankful I'm the oldest when my older cousin complains about how the guys always introduce themselves to the brother first rather than her because they're scared to get their arse kicked XD

Aw, I've always wanted a big brother, someone to kinda look up to and be there for me.

I have an older sister, but meh, she wasn't there for much of my life.

I do have a little brother though, and I love him to pieces.

I have three older brothers, they are big and scary lol. I love them though, they are the test of if the guy really like me. My current boyfriend is the only man that stayed after the interrogation from my brothers, this one is a good one :)

I think I would love it if my older brother was more protective of me because it would show that he really cares about me/doesn't want guys to be all over me, etc.

Well, I think that there's a time for a brother to be watching out for his sister and making sure she doesn't get hurt or anything, but, if their relationship gets more 'serious' and they really care about each other, then I think that the brother should trust her judgment.

Punching people who look at you etc is a bit extreme , but its nice to know your older brother looks out for you and cares...

mixed. I don't have any brothers but I do think it's nice for them to want to protect you as long as they don't go overboard.
