I think she really admires their style.
She doesn't want to have the stigmas attached with them be apart of who she is.
If she wants to play with her clothing style and be different , she should.
Now is the perfect time in her life to do so.
You both are teens.
Enjoy it before you enter into the professional world where certain hair colors, piercings and clothing styles aren't allowed.

I'm guessing you guys are young.. She's gonna do what she will.
Since she "wants to be" , I guarantee its a phase thing. She thinks it looks cool, they'll "understand her"..
We all go through that.
Just be a friend, let her ride it out. We all find ourselves eventually
What Girls Said
When i was in middle school i went through the emo phase, and yes at the time i believed it "totally isn't a phase". All my friends were emo and i just went with the flow because... they had nice hair lol. You don't have to be a cutter or depressed or whatever to be "emo". It's a style, and a genre of music. Most emo kids were actually super fun and hyperactive people.
If she wants to dress that way, let it be. It's not like she's gonna stay like that for long. Chances are she saw pictures of emo kids or something, and thought "wow they look cool, i wanna try that out!".
She'll probably drop the idea quicker than you think. Especially since nowadays that particular style is not as common. To me emo is just a term and it represents different things to different people. Some people it's a music genre, to others it's a fashion or just a general label. I hate it when people stereotype emo as people who cut, because not every emo does.
I've been in the same group of friends since primary ( I just finished grade 9) and it wasn't a big deal to them when I started getting into the emo style because really id always had a fringe and was never really the rainbows and unicorns type. I did (and still do) get a few jokes on how my fringe is lame and how I'm all dark and stuff and that's okay but I think people can really take it too far. So with your friend, just because she wants to be emo doesn't mean that she's going to be a whole new person, it just means she's experimenting with her style and the best thing is to share how you feel but still be respectful of her decision. It is a phase. Let her try it, but encourage her not to get sucked up into activities like cutting or drugs that can sometimes accompany it.
Experimenting with subcultures is a thing of adolescence.Maybe she is just tired of her life... If she actually cuts herself for no reason then you need to tell an adult. Talk to her about it, Other than that its a phase and she will grow out of it since she is a fake. I cut myself because it's an escape from reality, no one knows that im unhappy. Maybe that's the case here. TALK! It will help I promise. Just dont mention that you dont like emos.
Teens can go through a stage like this. Where they want to be "emo". They can be the total opposite from "emo" yet still want to be it. Just let her do it. This will pass and she will be back to herself.
dont change her, her being emo isn't what she likes or is its mostly style. i personally like the emo style but not the music or anything
being emo doesn't change who she is so its her decision what she wants to look likeI think most of them are upset that they weren't molested as kids.
Im emo and i still play video games and stuff like that but me and my friend are hyperactive and when im upset i just listen to MCR or BVB or FOB and even sometimes even twenty one pilots
