Guys, How do guys comfort each other after an outburst?

So, I'm writing this story and one of the dudes has an outburst and like breaks down and all (deep family, childhood troubles and he was drunk), so his friend is there and I was just wondering how do guys comfort each other? rubbing backs to soothe someone? hugs?
how intimate do guys get really? like if they're so close and all.

I think I am abnormal, by my guy friends and I were all very comfortable with each other, physically emotionally what ever. I have seen my friends cry over divorced parents, or being deported mid way through university. I think the general sense is to rub their back, get them to say as much as they can and just listen. then usually immediately try and joke and cheer them up, I think that is the biggest difference between women, we like to make a joke of it and down play how important it is. Then proceed to have a fun time once they are finished with the real tough outburst stuff. I think you would need to be extremely close of this to all happen though, and again, I think I can be a bit on the fringe of typical male interaction lol

I don't know, usually it's nothing you just hang out with them and eventually they relax, that's what happens to me, even though most of the time I prefer to be alone anyway
