I tell him it's okay, we can reschedule, but then he says he feels too bad to act this way with me and that maybe i should make other friends :( and forget him.
why is this?
I have the same exact problem and sometimes I feel as if they don't like my presence. But I think it's all on them because of what they are doing. I think they are having problems against themselves. Most likely feel anti social or something that's why they don't want to go out. I've also wondered if it's because they might have other people to hang out with. There are some people who degrade their own friends making one friend look better than the other. It could be that he has personal problems. Maybe the parents are strict and although he might want to hang out he can't !!
But if he doesn't make the effort to actually hang out I guess it's time to leave him because that's not a true friend. A true friend must love your presence ! I've realized this because I'm in that situation right now and I hate it.
I have the same problem with one of my friends. I kinda just gave up and whenever they ask to go out, ill go when I am not busy or feeling it. Otherwise I just can't be bothered
At least he is being honest, but it sounds like you got a flaker of a friend. I personally have a distaste for anyone who feels the need to apologize for every little thing. The sincerity gets lost after the first few times, moving to the point ditch this guy friend because he's NOT your friend to begin with.
i know he struggled with serious social phobia last year, maybe that's the problem?
you're right, thanks!
