My parents won't let me travel alone even though I'm 18?

I just find it so frustrating that they won't let me travel alone or with friends even if I'd be paying for the trip myself. I'm of legal age and in college, I'm saving up and going to apply for a new job soon. I also think it has to do with the fact that I'm a girl. I have a cousin who just turned 17 (so not even of legal age!) yet he's allowed to travel on his own even to a different continent. It's just so frustrating because my parents won't let me do other stuff like have a boyfriend, go out with my friends as much as I like, or even put posters up in my room. What do I do?

I feel it depends on where you want go. Do research and give your parents your strategy. If that doesn't work then relax and wait a little longer, till you get some more age. I will seriouly consider going alone. I may be talking from fear but be very careful. And plan plan plan! maybe save more money so you could have a bigger backup fund for a future travel opportunity.

Have you not see taken or hostile.. my mom didn't let me go on any Field trips I've had a forge her signature. Be happy they care.. at least you will never go missing... try and show them your an adult and understand them. But also tell them your not a baby anymore.. you have to leave the nest sometimes

They do need to cut the cord a little. Posters in your room? Go out with friends? Have a boyfriend? Those things they need to reconsider in my opinion. Traveling alone, I can't say that I blame them. There are some sketchy people out there unfortunately and I would be worried.

Sorry hit submit too soon. Sit your parents down and talk to them about it. Talk to them about giving you some space and being allowed to spread your wings and show them that you are indeed responsible and able to take care of yourself if you were to travel alone. They should be open to listening amd compromising with you.

That's because they care for you and maybe they are bit overprotective. Talk to your parents and solve the problem. it's not a big deal I hope they will understand

its simply comes down to very worried about you doing it alone and with group of girls due to the stigma of "what would happen worse case senario "
