Personally, I've seen what an abusive home and being in and out of foster care does to a child, so I believe that anyone should be able to adopt as long as they can provide a loving and safe environment and are financially stable.

Should homosexual couples be able to adopt children?
Well the major issue with this is that studies show that children with homosexual parents are fair worse then those with normal heterosexual parents. The fact is we are biologically different (men and women) and we learn a lot about who we are and how we are suppose to be from our parents and we learn a lot about how the opposite gender is suppose to be and who we should look for in a partner from our opposite gender parent. So that is a major issue with homosexual adoption. Its not fair but nature and biology rarely are.
That said do I think its better to have no parent at all? Of course not, that has worse problems, same goes with single parents. So I would say they should be allowed to adopt but that the priority should be to find a heterosexual couple followed by homosexual then single parent home.
I also think its important for homosexual couples to realize/admit how important having parents of differing genders is to a child so that any negative consequences can be minimized as much as possible. For instance if your a gay male couple having a female child would probably be bad for her since she will not really no how to be a woman (in the sense that she is on her own trying to understand herself), therefore they should be able to have a strong female influence (grandmother/sister/close friend) in order to help balance things out for her. If they have a male child then he will have no problem with understanding himself but he will have a problem with relating to women as he does not have a strong female presence in his life so again its important to get a strong female presence in his life. The reverse is also true.
By acknowledging these issues you can minimize the negative consequences of a loss of that type of parent to the child. Though to be fair I think what is often over looked (being adopted myself) is the compatability issue. I am very much different from my family so that caused a lot of pain and friction because I was never quite understood and as such I was basically constantly being forced to be the opposite of who I was which caused a lot of problems for me. So I think that is also something to consider (arguably more important then even the homosexuality issues of child rearing).
what? What happened to single parent homes? Like a single mother raising her son, or a single father raising her daughter? There are other positive outside influences, outside of the immediate family. Like learning to be a woman, or learning to be a man? That makes no sense, the kids aren't raised to be hermits.

@OrangeBoy No, though they do its worse (they found it was worse or had the most variability in homosexual female couples). I am not saying they personally cannot be good parents, I am saying that we are a gender binary species, we have gender dimorphisim within our species and that means that we need both to understand ourselves and the others. Hence me suggesting a strong presence of the opposite gender in order to offset this.
@RhythmBlack All data shows that single parent homes are terrible for children actually. In fact it increases the risk of suicide, depression, substance abuse, criminal activity (80% of inmates are from single mother homes), promiscuity (thus perpetuating the problem) etc. I even included an article on the damage it does to a childs brain and development. I don't make the rules of the universe, if I did it would be a much more forgiving place, I am just telling you what is and what could be done to at least minimize the negative consequences.
You provide data and then make conclusions about it. Problem is, the data rarely supports your conclusions. There's a disconnect there. But, that's in the past. As I said, I'd be interested to see if there have been any follow-ups that confirm or refute these studies...
I went and looked at the follow-ups. The author of the first study on high school graduation rates explains in his study that the difference in graduation rates between children from gay male households and boys from lesbian households is not statistically significant when compared to children from heterosexual couples. There is a large difference for girls from lesbian households. His analysis supports your claim about girls needing a male role model for some of their childhood development. But, it doesn't support your claim that children fair worse across the board.
The second study says there are differences but unfortunately I can't get at the whole thing without paying so I don't really know what those differences are. It doesn't give any indication that those differences are negatives.
The third link is based on the work of a Dr. Regnerus whose study has been thoroughly discredited over the past 5 years for using incorrect methodology.
So the data you provided supports the hypothesis that there's something about girls in lesbian households that affects graduation rates. That's about it.

Because it didn't conform to your world view? Now all the studies that say homosexual parents are just as good? Every one of those is flawed with small sample sizes, self reporting, no follow ups, one which as far as I can tell is highly quoted is from a gay man who also happens to have all of these flaws in his study. So, yeah, the one I gave you is the the largest study of its kind with a random sample size unlike all the others. If anything its the most accurate one we have.
The biggest critic of the study the last article is based on is actually the author of the first article you posted. I'll have to dig up what the methodological criticisms actually are. I won't be doing this any time soon, since I'm on pain killers due to a minor surgery I had yesterday (my mind is even more wacky than usual). Or, I could just drop it...

The fact is the only reason why people would disagree with the multiple studies that show otherwise is because it would mean that their actually is a right way of doing things and that would mean they would actually be limited. Hell I even proposed several ways of fixing the problem but of course its easier to pretend that nothing matters and their are no rules to anything ever then to acknowledge that we are limited by our biology.
I say yes. As many children who are not adopted these days, it doesn't make sense to turn away people that ARE willing to adopt these children.
Although I feel a penis-wielding male/vagina-having female parental dynamic is best, I feel that being raised by two moms or two dads, is better than being raised in a foster home.

Being gay doesn't turn you into the opposite gender. If it did, people wouldn't be so sensitive about it.
Being one gender or the other doesn't magically grant you skills. You don't need a "mom" to learn cooking or cleaning; you don't need a "dad" to earn cars or computers. You need a desire to learn, and a source of the information.
If children really did learn everything through example then they could "learn" to like to vegetables, or to dislike pets and bad friends. Children have personalities and preferences and can make choices based on what they want, obviously. So they won't just "turn gay" if they see it.
Being attracted to the same sex is not a choice. Having sexual relations with the same sex doesn't make you gay. To be gay is to be attracted to a member of the same sex and to become aroused by a member of the same sex; whether you choose to act on it or not, you're only gay if you have the desire to do it.

I have a bi-sexual guy friend. His Lutheran mother refused to leave the husband and father whom was beating them both, he was taken by CPS at age 7, and raised in the foster system by a nice Presbyterian family whom eventually fully adopted him, then promptly kicked him out at 18 for being gay.
Of course they should. It would benefit the child and the couple. The couple would have a family and so would the child, they'd also be out of foster care. Gay couples seem to be the only ones who adopt children so if we forbid them such rights, then we're denying those children a good home. You hear those stories about kids in the foster system who had trouble getting adopted and resort to a life of crime. Also, we don't let homosexuals adopt, then we are taking two of the three inalienable rights that all humans are born with: liberty and the pursuit of happiness. (Yes I tried to quote the Declaration of Independence, I'm a history nerd.)
Are gay couples not allowed to adopt kids? It's not about the idea of a "couple" or whatever, it's about someone who wants to raise a child and nurture them. Single person, two dudes, a cat in heat, who cares? Would anyone seriously not want kids to get loving families just because of the parent's sexual attractions?

I think the parental dynamic might be confusing to the child at a certain stage in their development but in the end children have been raised by people who weren't their biological parents and turned out fine.
This isn't a question of ethics but of success. If they are stable both emotionally and economically then I don't see a problem.
Yes, after they are officially proven to offer good stability to children, like any other adoption system shoud work ideally, and hability to deal with the problems of dealing with children.

We should be getting as many children out of foster care and into permanent homes as we possibly can. Who cares what gender the parents are as long as the home is safe, happy, and healthy
no they should not! It's not right for a child to grow up in that environment. kids grow up to be better and make make better choices when you have a mother and father figure.
They have to adopt that mean they will take a child from normal family.

I'm not sure what you mean. Kids waiting to be adopted are in foster care (which isn't the best situation for them) so if a gay couple wants to adopt, why deprive that child of a potential family?
I am not sure that is right or wrong. So I try to get rid of human judgement to think about. Of course, those kids come from normal family in the end. You can not use china standard to think about situation for them. Children will want to know their biological parents if they have enough information.
i definitely think homosexuals should be able to adopt. a child needs a good family regardless of those parents sexual orientation and that's all that should matter

No, that borns with the kid (mostly), and thats you projecting yourself on the kid, with your life experience, wish is something he doesn't have, so he will not feel the same as you.
A child needs a family who loves them. That's all. It doesn't matter what the parent (s) have in their respective pants or who they use the contents of those pants with.
