When a girl is having problems with her boyfriend, should I comfort her?

I like this girl and noticed the majority of the fights with her boyfriend are that "he never wants to spend time and talk to me on the phone anymore ever since he moved".

Should I let her rant on about her boyfriend over Facebook to the public, or be like "Hey I'm here if you wanna talk :D".

If you like her a lot and would like to have a relationship with her, I would NOT advise letting her confide in you about her boyfriend troubles. Firstly, that will place you firmly in the "friend zone" of sensitive male friends who she confides in as she confides in girl friends. Secondly, if you do ever ask her out, she may be creeped out by thinking that you only ever listened to her in the hopes of encouraging her to break up with the last guy.

It just isn't a good idea to be listening in on a relationship that you have a bias against: the bias being that you would rather be with this girl and see her break up with her current boyfriend. I know you're trying to be friendly and do the right thing but if you want a chance with her romantically in the future, I would give it some space and only discuss other things with her.

Be honest with yourself as to why you want to be there to talk-

to be the nice guy which you can later b*tch/whine that girls always stick with bad bfs and you're used as a shoulder to cry on when that's what you presented yourself as

to play the role that you'd be a better boyfriend hoping she'd break up with him

you actually honestly care about her feelings about her relationship

Rarely works out.

Plus if you can't genuinely care for her issues without an ulterior motive you most likely wouldn't be a good boyfriend for her much less truly care for her.

Probably best suited to leave her alone as you can't be a friend and focus on a new girl.
