Any ideas that could help? :)
How can I make my parents let me go on a ski trip?
Any ideas that could help? :)
There is a ski trip in January...I'm sure there a lot of ski trips in January. Is this one organized by your school, some other organization, or just a bunch of friends? Will there be adults present? You parents are probably concerned about little things like alcohol/drug use, STD's, pregnancy, etc.
When my brother went on a ski trip in HS he drank too much and passed out and might have choked to death on his vomit if his friends hadn't rolled him over.
It is organized by our school, and there will be a lot of adults, like our professors and skii instructors.
Well, sometimes the adults are the ones you have to worry about - see Penn State.
But as to your problem, do you have friends going that your parents know and trust? Could you maybe have one of the instructors who is going talk to them about how things will be organized? Or at least get them to say what their concerns are so that you have a chance to address them.
I suppose they are convinced it is also a sex trip and they wish to restrict that. Any adults going?
We are going with 2 professors from our school, and ski instructors. And boys and girls won't even be on the same floors in the hotel...
Seems safe enough to me, I admit.
With my dad, I could always talk to him. Try talking. If they say no, don't go off of the deep end and get all upset. If they think you're rational and are becoming more adult, they might let you go.
But, there is a chance that you'll have to not go. That's part of being an adult, not getting everything we want.
There will be other ski trips and other awesome stuff to do with friends.
But, keep your chin up, and good luck with your parents!
Did they tell you why you can't go? They should give you a good reason. However, if your argument is: "but all my friends are going", that's not a sign of acting like an adult.
Sit down with them and ask them why they feel they can't let you go on that trip. Tell them it's a good way to get a break, be a bit independent, have fun, be on your own, ...
When I ask them why can't I go, they just say: because. and then the conversation is over... :/
Tell them you deserve a good reason. Only toddlers use "because" in an argument. Or people who don't know any good reasons but just want their way.
I just have to say that this is GREAT advice!
