Why would a guy text you "hey stranger"

A few months ago I ran into a guy from my high school when I was out for my friends birthday. We talked, danced he bought me a drink and we exchanged numbers. We started talking almost every day for a few months. He told me all about his recent break up that broke his heart and he was trying to figure out how to be by himself for awhile.

I didn't expect anything because of this but I still fell for him. I met up with him once and stayed the night (we only made out-then stopped when I told him I couldn't keep going). We started talking about how innocent I am (virgin) and he talked about how he's not innocent and his number. He also talked about every single girl he's dated and why it didn't work. He told me he doesn't cuddle at night and usually faces away, but he still slightly cuddled with me most of the night.

After that night he slowly stopped talking to me and would make plans then come up with excuses (even tho he frequently said how bad he felt). I think I freaked him out with me being a virgin or he freaked out because he wasn't ready for a relationship, I don't know.

One day he randomly texted me "hey stranger, hows the weather where you are?". And we talked a little then he stopped again.

Occasionally, he'll like snap chat me (prob along with everyone in his contacts). He'll also randomly like Facebook pictures (ones my friends post of me, or some with my friends from my sorority in formal dresses, etc.).

The thing is I still really like him and could see myself ending up with him, whether he sees that, prob not, but we don't ever talk. I let it go thinking he probably isn't ready anyways.

But why would he text me out of the blue starting with "hey stranger"?

He's saying that he hasn't seen you or even talked to you in a while (like a stranger whom you haven't seen at all).

It is a friendly greeting, but it's often considered flirty although we can't really be sure. (Come on, "Hey Stranger" just clicks, it sounds right, don't you think?)

Right now, I think he's not ready for a relationship. His actions aren't significant enough to show he has any interest. (Facebook liking doesn't mean much to a guy, except that he likes it!)

I really don't mean offense but he doesn't seem committed to a relationship such that he couldn't even commit to a plan yet. (I know he feels about it. I would too.)

One question remains for me-- Did you ask him about those girls? or did he just randomly brought them up?

Thanks for answering! Yeah I was just wondering because it was like he was calling me the stranger when he doesn't talk to me either, but yeah I guess it's just a nice way of saying haven't talked in awhile. And yeah I figured he wasn't ready, he was pretty heart broken when his girlfriend of a couple years broke up with him in December because she didn't want a serious relationship and he did. But he brought it up, after I stopped it from going further, I said I was innocent, he guessed I was

a virgin which then led to the convo about how he's not innocent and all the bad things he's done. This then led to how many people he's slept with and then he started talking about all of his ex-girlfriends (he's only slept with his girlfriends-no one else) and then eventually his family. He brought all of this up on his own, of course I listened and asked some questions occasionally but the topic of his ex's was brought up by him while we were laying in his bed kind of cuddling.

I definitely see some interest here :D hmmm...bringing up information you didn't ask for...Just be careful because he may not have moved on yet. He said it himself that he was pretty heartbroken. Give him some space and just continue to take it slow. :D

I wouldn't read that much at all into it. It's just a way of saying "hi".

I'll do this on occasion with someone I know- if I haven't heard from them in some time... and that can be anything from a few hours to a few months.
