My personality does change a whole lot when I am around a girl that I have a crush on.
I try to seem to be distant around her and I like to watch her from the corner of my eyes to see if she takes notice of me. I will also talk to people that are around and laugh, you know try to seem like someone better than what I really am.
When around a girl I just consider a friend, I usually try not to look into their eyes for long periods of time, to prevent them from thinking I want them. I also DO NOT flirt with them, I hate it when they take flirting as being serious instead of playing, so I try to avoid that all together.
But, sometimes your instincts will let you know if your crush is also into you. Observe his every move and see how he responds to different people compared to you(compare and contrast thing). Like he might be more outgoing to others, but seem very shy when he is trying to talk to you. That's the method I use when I have a crush on a girl.
When I'm around a girl who I consider my friend, I'm calm and joke around with them.
But if I'm around a crush, I get nervous, try to avoid eye contact and sometimes I get stutter when I talk to them.
