The most common mistakes when applying eye makeup are:
Lining your waterline with a dark pencil instead of the white/light-beige pencil:
it makes the whites of your eyes smaller since you're taking away more light space below them and instead makes it the exact opposite. Why do I say this? Not all people (honestly most people) can't carry out the overly underlined look and achieve the big eyes effect - it's possible only if you actually do have big eyes in the first place. For example: Mila Kunis looks great with all around black pencil on her waterline, while Jennifer Lawrence - not really...
CORRECT: the first two
INCORRECT: the last one
Lining your whole under eye area instead of the outer third:
it makes your eye a closed whole instead of an open area which accepts more light into it - hence also making it look smaller.
Do not goop on the product below the eye, but rather concentrate it on the top and outer corner when it comes to darker colors and always put the lighter color in the inner corner of the eye:
those darker colors in the outer corner will elongate the eye and the bright color in the inner corner will illuminate and open the eye.
Mascara and thin upper lid elongated liner can make your eyes bigger:
makes them longer, makes them more open...it's just an overall hit. Never a miss.
Combining these all together would look something like this:
The BAD side (left), The GOOD side (right)
