Why are women lighter eyes often in magazines and men with brown eyes?

Often in European magazines, majority of the women you come across have light eyes, either very blue or green (I understand half the time they are photoshopped) and most of the men have very dark eyes which implies masculinity or sometimes light eyes too. Why is this the case?

  • Good question and as a blur eyed male, I recent the implied connection between masculinity and dark eyes.

Masculinity and femininity is not collated to racial features, but to gender specific features. And eye colour is more race than gender specific.
