Is it normal for waterproof hiking boots to make your feet excessively sweat?

They are leather Timberland mid height hiking boots. They are warm and comfortable (great for winter hiking) but while breaking them in, I had them on all day Saturday as I was out and about in town. Six hours later when I took them off, my poor socks were soaking wet! I'd be screwed with wet feet out in the woods... in winter! Before this pair, I've always been a shoe guy.

  • You're a guy? lol. Pretty normal, you need wicking socks and spare socks.

  • Well it's pretty normal. But it also depends on a material of socks you are wearing. I have these waterproof boots. They are leather, comfy and breathable. When I was in camping, I was wearing socks that soak up a moisture ( but I forgot it name).
