What is the typical attire for a homecoming dance?

I'm going to my friend's homecoming with her tonight, and I was just wondering what people usually wear to hoco (is it more casual or formal?) I also am wondering if it's ok if I wear converse, because it's all I own besides these really uncomfortable black flats.

  • More casual; i. e. jeans, t-shirts, etc.

  • Do you own any formal short dresses? You could ask your friends if they could let you borrow one. A lot of girls tend to dress up, get their makeup done, their hair, etc.

As for footwear, most girls wear heels but take them off half way through the dance because the pain is excruciating. If you don't have heels, wear your flats and then take them off later.

It's really up to you though. Good luck :)

  • It's a bit more formal. For me when I was in high school, it wasn't as fancy as prom but still got to wear a nice dress. Something like these:

  • It's very formal, like prom, you'll want to go to ross, or somewhere and get a prom dress, because that's what HOCO is like.
