I notice sometimes when attention is drawn to that area (he shakes his wrist or takes out his wallet). But I don't get impressed or anything. I just wonder why people would buy such fancy, big, non-utilitarian ones. I start thinking the guy might be a pompous show-off.

LOL hmmm ahaha.
I literally know jack shit about watches. I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a basic cheap watch and an expensive Rolex watch.
So no, safe to say I don't.
But I can only speak for myself 😇

Heck, I haven't even noticed that my boyfriend didn't wear his bracelet today because he lost it on Friday. >.>
If I'm spending time with him, and like him, yes. Otherwise, I don't really pay attention to what a guy wears.
Hell yeah they do! Women love my digital Casio watch, bought for a whopping $20 -- especially when I shake my wrist to make that rubber strap jingle and sparkle in the sun.
i´d say probably not. that´s a guy thing. they´ll only notice, if it´s a really big, expensive looking one and probably assume, he´s a showoff.
